“Nowhere close to those 4 stars”

There are many other options for sure...I can't recommend any as this was my first time in Tenerife but this hotel was disappointing, I stayed in a 4 star in Lanzarote in a different trip which was light years better than this one. Beds were uncomfortable, low and old. Food was average and the service in the restaurant was OK. Check for alternatives...

“Definitely not 4 star!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from Christmas eve through until New Year. I would say it is pretty average, no different from many other 3 star hotels we have stayed in. We were all inclusive, although there were guests staying that were paying for drinks and food (always got the impression that paying guests got served quicker at the bar!) The only difference I would say between this hotel and a 3 star hotel was it had a waiter service, unfotunately not much of a benefit when the hotel is busy and there are not many waiters on duty, which seemed to be the case. Location is probably best for the active, it's pretty high up out of town. Rooms were OK, although we did pay for a Superior room (their name for it) Guests can move between 3 hotels this group own, two are connected the other being directly opposite. All in all the stay was pretty average, what really put me off was the hotel advertising that the bars would remain open until 2:00am on New Years Eve, only to be informed at the bar at 12:00pm we now had to pay for drinks, thought this was very petty, had I been informed of this in advance I would have gone to the ATM and drawn out some more cash (we were going home next day) Victoria in the dining room is very good, what ever they pay her is not enough!!

Pete

“Hotasa Puerto Resort Canarife Palace”

This wasn't the type of hotel we'd have normally have picked, however with us staying over Christmas it was nice to be able to lay by the pool and not have to worry about finding somewhere to eat. The reception staff were a little 'grumpy' and not help. Also be warned that everything is extra e.g towels for the pool, room safe. The food in the hotel was on the bland side but everything was warm and the food counters were well stocked and clean. Don't stay at this hotel if you want a lively hotel as the hotel average age limit was shall we say on the 'mature' side.

“A Quiet and Relaxing Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

We stayed at the Canarife Palace from 4th. to 11th. August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I had e mailed ahead asking for a room not on the ground floor and with views and this was provided. We were infact on the top floor (7th.) with wonderful views of the gardens and swimming pools, Mount Teide to our left and the sea to our right. I honestly don't think we could have been in a better position in the hotel so it is worth doing this.
Our room was huge and the facilities good. We were a little disappointed that the mini bar was empty as this has been replenished daily on other all-inclusive holidays we have been on. My tip would be to fill it from the small supermarket just down the road as this was far cheaper than the hotel.
The facilities at the hotel are good and it was never a problem to get a sun bed around the pool. The food was adequate with lots of choice every day. Make sure you get your fish, meat etc. from the grill as it is then freshly cooked infront of you. On our first evening we asked for 'vino blanco' and were pleasantly surprised to get a bottle (rather than a glass) as we have known in other places. On the subject of Spanish, you don't need to speak the language to get by, but as in most places, if you at least try to speak the language, people are pleased and friendly and the service seems better!!
As has been said before, the hotel is situated about 15 minutes walk away from Puerto de la Cruz. It is all downhill going and is a very pleasant walk, but quite a slog back!! However, there is a free bus service from the hotel to town and back from Monday to Friday. We never used this as we preferred to walk and infact did this every morning as we enjoyed sitting having a coffee near the harbour and letting the world go by!!
There is a slightly alternative walk to town along the cliff top which has really spectacular views. From the Canarife, cross the road and go down behind the Interpalce and you will find steps leading to this walk. There are even a couple of nice bars along this route where you can sit and admire the views.
As you can see we really enjoyed this holiday. However, people need to be aware that it is not a lively holiday and a million miles away from the commercialised south of the Island. However, try it - and I am sure you will agree that it is a lovely place to unwind and to get away from the stresses of life

“It's OK”

Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. Food was OK, not a great choice but mostly well coocked and presented. Location fine for the mobile but probably an issue for those who are not. Could do with some new carpets but otherwise....OK.
