Its always difficult being objective when you are disapointed, but here goes. I'll try to be fair.
1. Food, Buffet ( dont like them ) Poor. Why ? because the chef manages to make everything so bland that you dont know if chicken is fish or fish is chicken. Often cold, and the same options and alternatives every meal. Veg is cooked to death.Howewever the plate clearing service and cleanliness is reasonably effiecient. The restaurants are clean and attractive .. shame about the grub. To be fair there are many very good eating houses in the town and for two courses of very good food with a drink no more than 16 euro's.
Breakfast is typical and cosmopolitan, everything you could wish for and if you have kids
the bonus is you wont have to blow it cold because they have thoughtfully ensured its all tepid.
2. Sunbathing and pool areas:: The water is very clean and blue, this is because nobody goes in it. I tried to once but I only had flip flops on and couldnt break the surface ice. The surrounding sun bed area was a free for all that lacked elbow space and comfort. But it was kept clean and tidy.
3. Drinks/Bar if you are all inclusive : These guys never stop working but are totaly unsmiling and obviously hacked off with the greed of some customers. However, I found them courteous and prompt, local drinks not to my taste but for for a small supplement you can have branded shorts. The beer was surpisingly decent.
Entertainment within the hotel is poor. Consequently the atmosphere in the hotel generally muted and many people escape of an evening to the very nice town area, the walk down... and I mean DOWN takes 20 mins or so ... if you were to walk back probably 1 1/2 hours if you are fit and healthy.! Take a cab back its only 4 euros.
4. Sleep quality and rooms: I have never come back from holiday so tired. The room was .. compact .. the beds were even compacter . The matresses were sort of crinkly and very hard, it was rather like sleeping on a hard walkers crisp packet. I discovered that this was because it had a waterproof membrane, which was quite disconcerting, as i'm sure it would be to most people. HOWEVER the main problem to sleep was the fact that the sheets were only as thick as cigarette papers ( infact the wife said several times 'stop nicking the rizzlas' in the night )
but incredibly they seemed several inches narrower than the bed.
Ignoring the several black curlies in the bathroom when we arrived and the greasy sun-oiled hand marks on the wardrobes I can say that the room had been hoovered dusted and re- rizzllered before we occupied it ... the air freshener that they used was pleasant.
Was it the best room i've had .. no it wasnt.. but it was cerainly not the worst... but i would have expected better from a hotel carrying 4 stars.
The beds and sheets however thats a different story, unacceptable i'm afraid.
I dont think i'm being over crytical, but it was not my cup of tea, ( which brings me onto the coffee that wasnt so good ) but as my wife pointed out its Tenerife, we didnt pay a fortune and probably got value for money. No bed bugs, no dicky tummies, decent company, decent weather, decent tan and a decent flight home.
