“Tenerife Ving - You get what you pay for.”

Just arrived back from a one week, reasonably last minute break to Tenerife.

Suprised to read the other reviews saying that this hotel is a 4* as in my opinion it would be a 3* at a push.

I stayed in a twin room on a self catering basis with my mum.

The bedroom itself was basic with two single beds.

The living area was reasonably spacious with a sofa, table and set of drawers - however there wasn't enough space to put away all of our belongings in the wardrobe and drawers, and there certainly weren't enough hangers to use in the wardrobe - so if you are planning on staying here make sure you take some of your own!

Kitchen/cooking facilities - as one of the pictures on this site shows you get a two burner electric hob and a fridge.... There is no kettle, no toaster, no microwave and no oven - fortunately our intention was not to eat in a lot or else we would have struggled.

The rooms are cleaned everyday except Saturday's when the cleaners rest. I have never experienced this before in a hotel and wasn't overly impressed - however when the room was cleaned they did a good job.

We had an apartment that was situated directly above the child's play area which got noisy on the weekends with childrens parties... Not so good when you're taking a lie down for a siesta but good if you have children of your own as the kids seemed to love it.

The bar in the hotel is reasonably priced at €1 per glass of wine and €2 for a pint of Dorada, which was a nice place to meet up with the family before heading into town (which is about a 10 minute walk to the square with no overly steep hills).

We found the reception/security staff quite helpful - the main doors are closed at midnight however reception is staffed 24hr so you just have to ring the buzzer.

The pool looks a lot bigger than it is in the hotel's official photos - however with the time of year we stayed and the pool not being heated it was a bit too nippy to go for a swim. Also, I can imagine during peak season it would be difficult to get a sunbed as we struggled one day getting up on the roof at 10am.

Final point to note if planning to visit in the summer - there is no air conditioning in the rooms! Ok for us in November - don't fancy it in July!

All in all though we had a fabby holiday... And this hotel was value for money... Next time I may just spend a few pennies more.

“Good hotel for the price we paid!”

My husband and i stayed in the Tenerife Ving from Christmas Eve until New Years Eve and had no problems here, for the price we paid we were happy with the hotel. Ok would not say its luxury but it was clean, which is the most important thing to us. Unfortunetly we had a cockroach in our room 1 night but it was by no means infested, we saw 1 other in the hallway which i chased with bug spray and that was it but this can only be expected whils abroad. We didnt eat at all at the hotel so cant comment on meals at all.
Ladies a word of warning there are no hairdriers in the room there is 1 at reception but its quite hopeless so take ur own!
The swimming pool is on the 7th floor and is small, we never used it but would prob be fine if u went up early.
Just a few mins walk from the beach which is clean and nice and a 15 min walk from the town! All in all a good holiday!

“Excellent, can't fault it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2010

stayed in the Ving during late October with a large group on a swimming camp - 4 adults and 30 kids. The hotel was very conformtable and suited our needs perfectly. The rooms were good, cleaned everyday, the food was of a very high standard, and the hotel was perfectly situated for the beach and close access to the swimming pool. the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The views from the 7th floor pool terrace were awesome,
We would recommend it,

“would not stay at this hotel not very friendly”

It was our first time visiting spain so was quite exited to meet the people and enjoy their culture. puerto de la cruz was a lovely place.but this hotel was not very helpful or friendly, think there must have been a big private party that had come from spain me and my husband got fed up of smiling in the end as these people were pushy and very rude, even when we went to go into the lift they would press the button so we had to get the next lift. Me and my husband gave up asking the reception for any help we needed in the end as they did not come across like they wanted to help us in any way. We could never wait to get out of the hotel it made us feel very uncomfortable. A SMILE WOULD HAVE GONE A LONG WAY. The room was clean and the only smiles we got were the ones from the cleaners which were more helpful too ..........

“Recomended ! :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2009

Ok. to be honest, this hotel calls themselves 4 Star, but I would give them an 3+ :)
Room :
Very nice, new furniture, nice equipped with basically all you will need during your stay. Beds were comfy, room was sunny.
Bathroom :
Clean, after reconstruction.
Services :
Telephone, swimming pool, safe (for extra charge), TV (for extra charge), Staff was very friendly. Room service every day (besides weekends)
Breakfast :
basic, felt bit artificial (juice from concentrates, instant coffe ect.) but eatable, just missed vegetables.
Surrounding :
this was taff one! Bit to noisy in the morning, view just at the next building (felt like in an block flat estate) Below us was an children play ground, so it was noisy in the mornings, but quiet in the evenings.
Beach was 5-7 min from the hotel and to be true I think this one was the best on tenerife!
City center 15-40 minutes (due how it is spread)
I would recommend this hotel for everyone who is searching an peaceful calm place.
