My wife and I have just spent a week in the Miramar, we took a late, low cost deal. By chance we were given a ninth floor suite with a balcony which went 3 sides around our room providing views of both mountains and north and south sea aspects. Views were spectacular. At night the lights of neighbouring towns and villages clinging to the mountainside was endlessly attractive. The hotel was clean and cared for.
Yes the hotel is dated and a little tired, but the staff are efficient and, given courtesy respond in kind.
This is but a reasonably priced 3 star hotel after all.
The food generally is basic but perfectly adequate and there is no excuse to go hungry as reasonable choice is on offer.( slice the bread, don`t use the rolls which can be very dry)
A large number of German holidaymakers were here during our stay, (this is true of much of Puerto Cruz). Unsurprisingly, the staff tend to respond better in german, but english is widely understood.
Set in Taoro Parque, the hotel offers charming walks to the main town, waterfalls, vistas and palm lined gardens on a steep descent> If you are not fully fit or possibly full of food and alcohol the taxi costs a mere 4 or 5 euros to get back at the very most. The hotel bus of course provides a free alternative.
If you are bored with the hotel food or want an altogether more relaxing meal in lovely surroundings then turn left out of the Miramar, walk up the gentle slope of Taoro Parque`s central path(Joggers and all) which is beautifully lit at all times. Turn left at the top and walk 25 metres to restaurant Las Flores (on Calle Suiza). This is immaculate canarian cuisine at reasonable prices served in beautiful, gentle surroundings(indoors and out) by charming and attentive staff. This made our holiday even more special.
