“First time in Tenerife”

My wife and I have just spent a week in the Miramar, we took a late, low cost deal. By chance we were given a ninth floor suite with a balcony which went 3 sides around our room providing views of both mountains and north and south sea aspects. Views were spectacular. At night the lights of neighbouring towns and villages clinging to the mountainside was endlessly attractive. The hotel was clean and cared for.
Yes the hotel is dated and a little tired, but the staff are efficient and, given courtesy respond in kind.
This is but a reasonably priced 3 star hotel after all.
The food generally is basic but perfectly adequate and there is no excuse to go hungry as reasonable choice is on offer.( slice the bread, don`t use the rolls which can be very dry)
A large number of German holidaymakers were here during our stay, (this is true of much of Puerto Cruz). Unsurprisingly, the staff tend to respond better in german, but english is widely understood.
Set in Taoro Parque, the hotel offers charming walks to the main town, waterfalls, vistas and palm lined gardens on a steep descent> If you are not fully fit or possibly full of food and alcohol the taxi costs a mere 4 or 5 euros to get back at the very most. The hotel bus of course provides a free alternative.
If you are bored with the hotel food or want an altogether more relaxing meal in lovely surroundings then turn left out of the Miramar, walk up the gentle slope of Taoro Parque`s central path(Joggers and all) which is beautifully lit at all times. Turn left at the top and walk 25 metres to restaurant Las Flores (on Calle Suiza). This is immaculate canarian cuisine at reasonable prices served in beautiful, gentle surroundings(indoors and out) by charming and attentive staff. This made our holiday even more special.

“good value for money, lovely, quiet & peaceful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Let me start by saying that I love this hotel and have now stayed here 2 Christmasses in a row. The hotel is in a great location and has some kind and lovely staff (Alicia on reception is fab!) and the hotel is very good value for money. The hotel is close to town (up on the hill with great views) and provides a (very old but working!) mini bus connection into town. There is a swimming pool, loungers etc., tennis court and lovely gardens and views.

However there is room for improvement - the decor is a little worn, some of the staff can be unfriendly (I think because they're tired and overworked not because they're unkind) and the concept of vegetarianism (I'm a veggie!) is not always understood by the restaurant but if you speak to the manager and the head waiter they do try to help.

This is not the hotel for you if you have a disability or difficulty walking (the hotel is up on a hill and the hotel lifts are quite small). This hotel does not provide a kids club etc. and probably is not a place for teenagers and small children needing lots of distractions. Having said that if your child is someone who isn't easily bored, has an imagination and can entertain themselves they will be happy at this hotel.

The clientele at the hotel is mostly 50+ so bear this mind if you're looking for a 'club 18-30' type, boozy, flirty holiday. And in general Puerto De La Cruz is a quiet, lovely, traditional Spanish island village with lots of culture. If you're looking for the 'club 18-30' you'd be better off in Las Americas or Los Christianos.

Hotel positives:

lovely garden
quiet
well situated
clean rooms
value for money
some kind staff
near Taoro Park
great views
close to Mount Tiede & La Orotava & Santa Cruz

Hotel negatives:

some grumpy staff
not enough vegetarian food
could do with some redecorating!
wifi is haphazard - not sure why it's not on 24/7

Personally I love the Miramar because it's the perfect hotel for a quiet, restorative holiday in Puerto De La Cruz, Tenerife.

My husband and I with our daughter, her partner and 3 children arrived at The Miramar on the 27th Decmber for a week. The bedrooms were light and spacious and the Gala Dinner provided on New Years Eve was very good. Our two elder grandchildren aged 12 and 13 were very pleased to be able to play table tennis and crazy golf every day with no charge applicable. The staff in the dining room were especially helpful and very friendly especially with our 1 year old grandchild. The garden and pool area was particularly pleasant and being quite high up there were great views. The walk into town through the waterfall gardens was great although the walk back up was a bit more strenuous ! We would certainly be happy to return to this Hotel again..

“We'll be back !”

My wife and I booked a last minute Xmas holiday through Thos Cook and stayed at this hotel for 7 days. Having other comments here I was a little anxious as to whether I had made the right decision, but upon our arrival we were VERY pleasantly surprised. We had a room on the 8th floor with a balcony that enjoyed views of the sea, pool and gardens. Our room was spacious and clean. If I had one criticism it would be that the only power socket was in the bathroom. We were on a half-board basis and had no complaints whatsoever about the quality nor quantity of what was on offer. A word of warning though..you can put on too many unwanted pounds/Kgs in you're not very careful ! The staff were friendly and extremely courteous. The hotel itself is located in a very quiet location and adjoins a local park. As others have commented, the 20 minute walk back from the town centre is uphill, but it's a pleasant walk and taken steadily isn't that bad. As alternatives there are always the hotel's shuttle bus or taxis. Considering this is only a 3 star hotel we were well satisfied and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main building on the 6-9th floors.

“We had a lovely time”

My wife and have just returned from Tenerife . We stayed at the Miramar, and found it to be a real find. We asked on booking, for a sea view and we got a fantastic balcony overlooking not only the sea, but a view of the wonderful mountain. We found our room to be very spacious and clean. The staff in the hotel were helpful and curtious. We found there were various large sitting rooms in the hotel where you could relax . read, or watch tv. there was also a internet room and there were also books . If you had a lap top you could use, free in the reception, between 6 and 8. There Wi Fi. And the real find was just a short walk from the hotel, ask the way to Albertos Bar. Amazing views from the terrace, You will not be dissapointed. Oh nearly forgot to mention, the food was plentyful and nice. Loads of fresh fruit Etc .Bon Appitito.

Room Tip: book room 701. the best views. We loved it. And we found it to be Spacious.
