“Find another place”

We have stayed a couple of times at this Hotel and have been satisfied until this stay. Now Hotel is out of date, it is very old and need maintenance. Beds are very uncomfortable and have not been replaced the last 12 years.

It is not a 3 star Hotel, it deserves only 1 star - so if you want to go to this area I will recommend you to find another Hotel.

“Great times in North Tenerife”

This is a first class establishment. The reception on arrival could not have been more helpful. The head receptionist Jose was more than helpful as I am a disabled person. The accommodation they provided was excellent in every way. My wife and I had a most pleasant stay. The breakfast choices were outstanding. My wife and I look forward to returning to the Teide Mar in the near future.

“...a little disappointing”

Ok, first things first.. Although not really a fault of the hotel itself, more ignorance on my behalf – but when first looked up the position of this hotel on Google Earth and noticed how close it was to the coast I was instantly drawn to it. Big mistake, as there is a high cliff edge between you and the beach. The walk down the hill wasn’t exactly direct either (unless you take the cheeky shortcut through the 'Semiramis Hotel', which we did on several occasions).

At this point I must also say that we had only previously stayed at all-inclusive resorts and this was our first time staying at a self-catering apartment. However, I feel as if comparisons can be made as there was very little difference in the price.
Rooms: The air conditioning did not work (not a problem on this occasion as the temperatures were low). TV use was an additional cost - WTF?. There was no kettle or toaster provided. The beds were less then comfortable and we were welcomed to the bathroom by the sight of a large cockroach... lovely!.

The staff were pretty helpful however and booked several excursions for us using the reception phone, they also provided good local knowledge of places to eat, drink and visit. They spoke excellent English considering Brits were thin on the ground around this part of town and there was no sight of a union jack among the many flags situated outside the hotel lobby. Wi-Fi was also provided at a cost, which I believe could be accessed within the reception area. I understand many hotels charge for this service, but it would be nice when this finally becomes free. International data roaming charges are still ridiculously high and this service can't be costing hotels much to provide. It would certainly be a major incentive for me when booking my hotel next year.

The swimming pool was ok and there were plenty of sun lounges available. We only used the restaurant/buffet once for breakfast. It was awful so we went outside for all subsequent meals. The restaurants along the seafront and around the hotel were all lovely. Enjoying a late dinner with the girlfriend while watching the sun set over the Atlantic - these are the memories I will take home with me from Tenerife.

We took two excursions while vacationing in Puerto de la cruz. One was to Mount Teide ‘The Volcano’, where we took a cable car up the mountain. Definitely worth doing. The other was a day trip to Loro Parque, which was so-so. (Think poor-man's Sea World with the added benefit of a few parrots and monkeys). The rest of our time was taken up by exploring the resort, eating out, sunbathing and trespassing around other hotels. Lago Martinez is worth a visit if you want a restful day as the grounds were very clean and the water nice and cold to escape the constant heat of the sun.

Overall I wouldn’t exactly recommend this hotel or the resort. If you are looking for more sun and excitement then you would probably be better off staying in the south of the island and if you are after more to do then probably stick with the mainland. Sorry Canary Islands!

“Very good value for money”

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at the Teide Mar apartments in La Paz, Puerto de la Cruz. All I can say is that we had a fantastic holiday! Okay, almost all the guests were either german or spanish, but we found that a smile or good morning got a response. The hotel was very clean, and we found the meals there were lovely. Our room was on the 4th floor, and we had a fabulous view of Mount Teide, and the gardens and pool below. The gardens are well kept, and although the pool isn't heated, in no way was this a problem. It was so refreshing to have a swim as the sun was so hot when we stayed there. Yes, there are a lot of steps to go down if you want to visit the main centre of Puerto de la Cruz so it is not recommended for anyone with mobility problems. Do visit Isla de Lagos by the casino...it's fabulous and only 3.5 euros to get in. The pools and sun areas are stunning!!!! I would give Loco Parque a miss. It cost us 33 euros each, and was not worth the money. To make matters worse, if you are a resident it was only 19.5 euros!!!! Buy a bono card and travel around the island, it's much cheaper than the organised trips. To sum it all up, we had a fantastic holiday, and found La Paz beautiful. I would definitely recommend it, and will be returning again in the near future.

Located far from the city. Approximately 150 stairs both up and down if you want to Centrum. Otherwise, it costs 5 euros in taxi on a road. The food is very poor. The staff understands very little English or none thing. Very noisy in the hallways and the street.
