Cannot fault this hotel, the room was large and cleaned regularly. It had a lovely view of the mountains on clear days. The pool was in a pretty garden area and was also very clean. The staff were so friendly and spoke English really well, despite the fact that almost everyone else in the resort seemed to be Spanish or German. The location for us was perfect because it is in a slightly quieter part of the resort further up from the beach, which meant that it was peaceful enough to sleep and relax, but there is also a few really good restaurants and bars right on your doorstep too. The best ones which we went back to again and again were Casa de les Papas for the best steak, and the big Pizzeria right opposite the hotel for the best pizza (obviously!). On the corner there is a really lovely Spanish bar which opens about 9pm called Bodega la Habanera which you get to by going down the steps opposite Pepitos. The couple who run it were so friendly, the decor is quaint Spanish-style, and they do live music and karaoke until 3 am. This is good if you feel like a slightly later night as all the other bars closed before midnight. It is quite small and has a really friendly atmosphere and so we went there every night after we found it. If you do want to walk down the steps to the coast, you must go to Casa Pache on La Viedad for authentic and delicious homemade tapas (especially the Canarian potatoes & Mojo sauces), very pretty setting and reasonably-priced. A taxi back up (there are lots of steps so its a real hike back up) was about 3 and a half euros. Overall, would definitely recommend Teide Mar and Puerto de la Cruz. The resort is peaceful but not dead and the Canarians were incredibly friendly. The beach was also ok although it was black sand and the sea was nice and warm. Only low point was that if you want to go there everyday it is a good 20 min walk and coming back up on foot is only for the very fit!
