Arrived at the hotel to a friendly and warm reception and also to the fact that the beach, restaurants and shops are practically on the front doorstep! The standard double room we got was at the rear of the hotel which had a great view of the town and, in particular, a fantastic sea view.
The room was nice, clean and presentable with comfortable beds and a nice clean bathroom. Good thing I noticed by the beds are switches to turn on/off lights in the room which saves getting out of bed. Only downside was the small shower screen in the bathroom which, depending on how you shower, determines whether or not you step onto a dry floor or a footbath afterwards.
The room also had air-conditioning which was easily adjustable and is an absolute marvel on a warm night. Comes with the standard TV (with some local channels plus a couple of English channels) with the option to pay for extra channels if you want. Also the benefit of hiring a safe and getting your clothes laundered/ironed if you wish for an extra charge as well as standard access to the minibar. Room service consists of a takeaway menu from a place nearby but to be honest with all the restaurants a short walk away, you're not likely to use this.
My other half and I went half-board but you have the option to swap the evening meal for lunch instead if you give a day's notice which is handy if you want to explore the island and get back late.
The restaurant has a good selection of food at the usual times of day and the waiting staff are very good at taking your empty plates away quickly when you're done. Did find on occasion they were a bit too quick taking plates away - before you finished eating. Also with lunch and evening meals you have to pay for your drinks (including water which was bottled) but I'm sure if you ask for tap water, they won't mind.
The staff are very friendly and helpful - even the cleaning ladies who say hello to you first thing in the morning on your way out of the hotel. They even have a rent-a-car agent in the reception area so you don't have to go very far for that.
The hotel swimming pool was closed at the time we went however the hotel will give you a free ticket to access the Lago Martianez swimming pools a few minutes walk from the hotel which we visited a couple of times during our stay and was brilliant.
There's pay-as-you-go internet access in the lobby available if you want to check e-mails etc so that's there if you need it. The lobby also has a bar and entertainment area with live music some nights. We didn't spend time in either of these but we saw other guests
in there enjoying themselves so that pretty much speaks for itself.
Despite the odd thing here and there, the hotel was great and was worthy of its 4-star rating by a mile. Will be using this hotel again when we next visit.
Room Tip: Try to get a room rear facing from 7th floor up.
