“Enjoyed our stay at this hotel but”

thought the food was very very bland and quite disappointing - have had better food in 3* hotels. Tried the fish one night and it was quite uneatable and also something which could only be described as reconstituted bits of all sorts under the guise of some sort of burger. Having said that the hotel itself was very nice, well looked after and always clean. The room we were in was very large and comfortable. Location not really a problem if you are fit and healthy. All in all enjoyed our stay but the food lets down the hotel.

“Very nice stay”

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days and really enjoyed it. The room, view, food were absolutely fantastic! The only thing we did not like that the hotel is located rather far away from the beach. The road to the hotel is quite hilly, but the hotel offers free shuttle service. There is free Wi-Fi internet access (only works at the reception site) which is very nice. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

“not so bad, but...”

hi, I'd like to recommend this hotel to everyone willing to visit canarias islands, it's a good hotel but my expectations were quite different since it is located far from the beach, you have to climb up for half an hour on your way back and there are no parties suitable for young people over 30 at night, although you can have a drink by the pool.
The buffet is not so bad, but it is always the same and sometimes it is served cool off.
nevertheless, I had a great time here in tenerife, I met many people and enjoyed parties in la plaza el charco and roundabouts, byeeeeeeeee.

“Excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2010

This was our 4th visit to the Puerto Palace Hotel and I enjoyed my stay just as much as previously.Knowing that some rooms might be noisy due to a busy main road running alongside part of the property I requested a quiet room and got one.
We were greeted on arrival by a pleasant receptionist and were pleased with the quality of our room. All areas of the Hotel are upkept to a high degree. There is lots of storage space in the bedroom which is large and decorated in pastel colours.A small empty fridge is available free of charge but one pays 2 Euros per day for the safe. The bathroom is large with shower over the bath and towels are soft and changed regularly.I thought the lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim so it was difficult to apply make-up.There was no mirror over the dressing table which I thought would have been useful but there was one in the hallway -also a bit dim.The balcony had a table and chaire and it was a good size.We had a nice view both of the mountains and the sea. This is one of the advantages of the hotel being situated on a hill it is not hemmed in by other buildings and those nearby are upmarket residential properties.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk down a steep road to the town and we always got a taxi back which cost 3 Euros approx.Although there is some degree of traffic noise the problem would be just as bad in the town where most high rise hotels overlook each other. The hotel provides free transport into town until about 6 pm.There are only a few facilities in the local area. There is a small supermarket /
cafe when turining left out of the hotel and also a Thai Restaurant but we did not use it.There is also a bus stop near the fountains roundabout on the main road but the service goes to La Oratava and not into Puerto. If one turns right out of the hotel and crosses the road at the top head for Calle Malpais where one can get a nice lunchtime snack .It is relaxing there with picturesque views.
A big plus point for this hotel is the beautiful grounds and swimming pool area.Plenty of space between the sun beds and always lots available.Though noise is evident the pool waterfall deadens it and I did find I was able to forget about it.A small childrens pool is tucked away round the corner but it was closed on the day I saw it.Also in that area was tables for ball games tennis courts and mini golf. The hotel also has a gym and Hairdressers.Entertainment is provided most nights of the week and on this visit I found it much improved. It was Latin American week and entertainers from South America performed authentic song and dance and also local entertainers provided music and song. There was also games for adults one night which I did not care for but that is a matter of taste. One can also take part in a hike once a week and the photos on display showed the attractive local scenery.
The Dining Room is attractive and is air conditioned therefore comfortable. It is self service and we never needed to wait for a table. The waiting on staff work very hard catering for the large number of guests so they really do not have time for pleasantries. The choice of food is vast and the quality is good.Breakfast choice was several varieties of rolls warm from the oven, different breads, toast cakes biscuits fresh and tinned fruit, yoghurt, cereals, porrige 3 types of cheese jams, tomatos cucumber 4 types of sliced meats, boiled eggs fried eggs and bacon.plus fruit juice and coffee.
The evening meal also provided a hughe choice of appetising food. starting with a choice of two soups .The salad course had the usual basic stuff but also cheeses a variety of sliced meats olives potato salad etc,etc,-very varied. The main course always consisted of a paella and a pizza Canarian potatos and chips rice or pasta two or three vegetable two types of fish ,a stew and a choice of a least 2 other meat dishes. The food is constantly replenished and chefs are on show griddling some of the meats or fish. There was a choice of fresh fruit several gateaus and ice cream for desert.
We looked at the menu of a nearby 4 star hotel which was waiter service and considerably more expensive to stay there.Five courses were served but only a choice of two items per course and the food did not sound very good so I much prefer being at the Puerto Palace.
The things we enjoyed most are the large choice of good food, the lovely pool area and being out of town.Unfortunately the fish was over cooked and the traffic noise spoiles the ambience to a certain degree.

“A Second Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

We have been using this hotel twice a year since1999 and class it as our second home.Arriving at the reception at 11.00PM we were once again welcomed back by the staff and given the keys to our room but were also told that {even though the dinner service had ended} a light snack was waiting for us in the resturant. This is typical of the service we have had since our first time at the hotel as the staff treat everyone as a important person and nothing is too much trouble.
The hotel itself is a 4 storey clean hotel just outside the main town. the rooms are of a nice size and each has its own balcony, mini fridge and air con. The cleaners are in each day to make the bed and change the towels. The beds are changed every three days and should you require extra pillows you only need to ask.Rooms overlooking the pool give a nice view of Mount Teide but do be warned that there is a main road behind the pool area and although it does not affect us at all people who are light sleepers could be affected by the traffic noise. There is only one electric point in the room {just by the sinks in the bathroom} but we take a twin trailing socket and a travel kettle {the hotel does not supply them or irons} so we can have a hot drink if we want it and can also recharge any batteries.
The pool area has two pools one is a fair size and heated, the other is a small cold water dip type pool, as well as that there are two hot tubs that take up to eight persons. Pool towels are avalable for hire at the hotel shop and you can change them each day {cost as of 2009 was 10Euro per towel} but the desposit is returned at the end of the hoilday. The pool area has sections that allow you to be away from the flow of people so if you want to just relax you can in peace.
The meals are all buffet style with plenty of choice and {unless it is the July/August period} tables are very easy to get without a wait. Drinks are {as in most hotels} a little on the dear side but I think that is only to be expected. Evening entertainment is a mixture of live acts and disco as well as the normal fun games for people to take part in, the compere speaks a number of languages so no matter where you are from you will not be left out.
There is a free bus that takes you into town should you want it {the only day it is not supplied is on a Sunday or public holidays} and it only takes a few mins to be in town.I will admit that unless you have children that enjoy swimming there is not a lot for them to do at the hotel and that could be a drawback for some families.
The hotel also has a small book area {supplied by the guests} so if you are into reading and run out you could find something to keep you going in there.
Overall I cannot fault this hotel and look forward each year to returning to meet up with the friends made over the time we have stayed. To us the thing we like best is the friendly atmosphere that we always get and the thing we like least is having to pack to return home to the UK
