We stayed 8 nights B&B at the Monopol. The front of the hotel is charming and the Palm lobby, we had looked in on a previous visit to PDLC and this together with the central location was why I booked. However the rooms are outdated but clean we had a balcony room at the back of the hotel which unfortunately did not get any sun, I would say forget the church bells ringing and try to get a balcony at the front overlooking the square where you can sit and watch the world go by. The big let down at the hotel was the breakfast the food was not of a good quality the juices were watered down squash, coffee out of a machine they did have teabags where you made your own. Bread was a big let down cheap and the pastries the same every day, I think they had been previously frozen, no fresh fruit, not even a banana.
The flower heads arranged every day on the hotel steps were quite charming, but perhaps less money on flowers and up the quality of the breakfast would be better!!! The pool area was cleaned every day and never any problem with a sun bed. A great location and good value for money.
Room Tip: Balcony rooms overlooking the square are the most interesting.
