“basic but great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2008

the hotel is self catering, the rooms are basic but clean and the amenities are all there. the lifts are a bit temperamental so often invloves a hefty walk up flights of steps to get back to your room but it all adds to the fun of the night out. the pools are ideal, there is the main pool beside the bar which often gets very busy, a second smaller pool which is often quite and a kids pool. the drinks are great value only a euro or two a pint. music is played round the pool all day giving it a great atmosphere. the staff are all english speaking and are very helpfull.

the only downside to the rooms are the lack of air conditioning which isnt ideal in temperatures in excess of 90 degrees, you can hire a fan from reception which helps a bit but its not great.

the hotel's entertainment is rather non existent, but the nightlife in the centre only a five minute walk away, is great, also the hotel is only about a ten fifteen minute walk away from the beach.

i went on this holiday with familly ranging from 14- 40, the resort is ideal for teens, young adults and the more mature if they like having a good laugh and the nightlife, however not to good for younger kids as there isnt much to entertain them.

overall i really enjoyed my stay at the hotel its only rated 2* and you get what you pay for, and here you get everything you would expect from a 2 star resort plus a bit more. Great Value and a Great time.

Would reccomend to most wanting a funfilled or partying holiday at a good price, but not to families with young kids or the elderley as the high volume of steps would be a nightmare for the less abled. also you are left to lug your own bags to your apartment regardless of the time of day or night so be prepared lol

  • Liked — convenience to the main nightlife and entertainment, good value for money and good pool scene
  • Disliked — no air conditioning

“Please take another look”

I would like to say to people who have stayed here in the past when Thomson owned most of the resort - please take another look.
As mentioned by a previous posting the resort is now private and all the apartments are privately owned - so its up the owner how clean and well decorated they are.
The bar is not open and there is no on site entertainment - so yes a good nights sleep is had. Security is good and extreme noise, unsightly rubish, dirty environment will not be tolerated.
The resort is cleaned daily and the Pools are cleaned daily, both to a good standard.
Entertainment can be sort in the local bars and round the corner is Amanda's and the Toucan Bar both offering live acts.
Walk a short walk and Fanabe front or Puerto Colon are available for good food and entertainment, Beeches too.
There are steps, but also a slope is available to reach the back apartments which offer good views.

stayed here was little dissapointed as club house and main pool was shut down, seemingly they are not re-opening as they are turning it into residential. great for a good night sleep after partying. Apartments were adequet, cockroaches very few but 1 is enough. lots of steps so no good if you have problems with steps. complex has sercurity Not bad either lol

“ugh could have been better”

On arrival everything seemed great until I pulled off the cushion of the sofa bed and found a cockroach underneath it. Needless to say I freaked but we eventually caught it and shooed it out of the apartment (they say if you squish them, they can release cockroach eggs that will go everywhere..or something). We were disturbed by cockroaches pretty much everyday, both in the apartment and by the pool. The apartment was pretty basic, for the money we had paid it was disappointing.

My advice is stay away from the Orlando...i got the impression it was all about young kids (13 year olds) getting drunk and the noise from the bar was really annoying after a while, going on until after midnight. If you REALLY have to stay (or if you are not bothered about noise or drunk kids...) then get a room on the first floor or above. I think the only reason we had cockroaches was because we were on the ground floor.

“would go back again”

went with a group of friends that wanted plenty to do nearby but not on top of the main strip. great if you want a cheap getaway. the rooms could do a lick of paint but were clean as was the pool, bar and reception areas. lets face it, you get what you pay for with holidays and for what we paid we were pleasantly suprised!! The waterpark is nearby and there is the fantasic 'lazymans beach' just down the road, a quieter beach that is surrounded by cafes, shops and resturants and also a market. as we also wanted to enjoy the nightlife, we found this was only a short taxi ride away.
The activities in the hotel were fab offering scuba diving etc. even though we went in november. They were refurbishing whilst we were there but this didnt spoil our holiday! swimming pool was lovely. However i could imagine this would be extremely crowded in the school holidays. Just bear in mind if you are travelling with a family that playa de las americas is popular for the veronicas strip so dont expect people not to be trailing into the hotel at the small hours of the morning.
i am hoping to go back next year, not as a group of friends but with my partner and young daughter. Really enjoyed it and ideal for a 'do as much or as little as you like' holiday.

  • Liked — location, not on top of nightlife but close enough if we did want it.
  • Disliked — rooms could have done with a lick of paint, but we did go at the end of season!
