We had the BEST Christmas here!
Being a business hotel, we got this week's break at a snip. The hotel was virtually empty, there were more staff than guests! The food in the restaurant was amazingly good, the rooms large and comfortable and the staff falling over themselves to be helpful and friendly, without encroaching upon your space.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, room service was good. There were complimentary soft drinks in the fridge in the room, free use of a safe, plenty of coat hangers and cupboard space. The bathrooms were luxurious with plenty of hot water and powerful showers.
We had read the reviews on here and asked for a room high up, for the views, and away from any noise of the traffic below. There are lots of lifts, so not sure why there have been complaints about these. We never had a problem.
The 18th floor restaurant was amazing: the views and service made you feel very superior. Well worth considering half board, especially as the city of Arrecife, to be honest, isn't great. We luckily had taken a couple of shirts and dresses: it is a lovely restaurant, where business people do come to eat in the evenings, so you do need to dress fairly smartly.
The buffet style breakfasts were lovely and relaxed, the restaurant being open until 10.30 and no hurry to clear out, like you do in some places. We had cava and orange juice for breakfast every day, pots of tea and coffee, cereals, fruit, pastries, cold meats and cheeses and the hot food was cooked there in front of you. The staff were happy to produce omlettes etc on demand. No need to buy lunch if you take a leisurely large breakfast!
The swimming pool on the second floor was large, very warm and mainly empty! Lovely day beds surrounding it, free wifi, a super poolside bar and sun balconies. Again, some confusion by looking at photographs: The solution: The pool used to be outdoors, but they have cleverly put a large glass dome over the whole thing, enclosing it.
We used the spa one time: A nice experience: sauna, steam room, various jacuzzis and a spa pool with killer jets and water falls etc. Fun.
Staff on the front desk were very helpful, happy to call taxis etc for you to travel to other places. We visited the incredible home of Cesar Manrique, the muesum of modern art etc very cheaply.
Being only 20 minutes from the airport was a plus for us too: So nice to not have a huge journey after a flight.
We would go back without a second thought.
Room Tip: Go for a high room!
