We wanted a week in the Canaries in November and this place was recommended by RCI. Firstly, if you are elderly or disabled, this is NOT the place for you ! To go anywhere on this site involves lots and lots of steps. The first apartment they gave us on arrival had a terrace three feet from a main walkway and was very, very tatty inside so we went back to reception and asked for an apartment with a balcony. They were extremely pleasant and transferred us straight away. Our new place was in the same condition as the last - the bathroom was disgusting with cement painted white around the edges of the bath, the surround cracked in several places and the bottom of the bath grey/black . There was a very crude shower over the bath but no rubber mat or grab rail so you were in peril of slipping when showering. There was one socket for the kettle, toaster and microwave and no teapot. All the cupboard doors were loose and chipped. The sofa-bed was very uncomfortable - a 50cm thick piece of foam over slats and the whole thing creaked with any movement. There is no air-con just a ceiling fan in the bedroom and living area. The patio door had suffered a break in at one point and was very crudely repaired and, I felt, very insecure. We rented the safe - an extortionate £21 per week. The furniture on the balcony was three odd chairs and a table that I would have put in the skip years ago. The views from the balcony were super (we were on the fourth floor) but I felt sorry for the people in rooms 200-2?? as they faced a white wall ! The pool looked great and although the air temperature was 25c-27c it was freezing cold, so cold my sister couldn't get in. During the day very few people ventured in although most of the sunbeds (maybe 100) were occupied. Around 7.30am the usual bunch were out claiming sunbeds with towels. We had dinner in the buffet restaurant two nights and although it completely lacks atmosphere the food was very good for £10 - good choice and three courses. The saving grace for the Aquarius is its position - a short walk (up and down lots of steps) from the harbour with all its eating places and a 'do-able' walk into the centre of Puerto del Carmen.
I for one will certainly not be going back unless they carry out major refurbishment .(including heating the pool!)
