“Great experience in Las Palmas”

We stayed in this hotel for 12 days after Christmas in the New year, and we found it a great place to stay, the position could not be better it is a five minute walk to the beach and a fifteen minute walk in the other direction to the main shopping street or the two beautiful shopping centres. Our room was on the fourth floor and it was bright and spotlessly clean and a good size, it was cleaned every day by lovely friendly staff. The breakfast was very good with a large selection of food available something to suit every taste, and there is a lovely little bar on the 5th Floor a lovely spot to wind up the evening. We were the only English speaking guests in the Hotel, but we found no problems everyone was very friendly and helpful and we even booked tours with the reception, and arranged our pick up for the airport with the staff there. All in all a lovely little hotel which we hope to visit again and would not have a problem recommending it to friends.

“Good City Break Hotel”

We spent 2 nights at the Astoria whilst Christmas shopping in Las Palmas. Following reviews on Trip Advisor, we requested a quiet room. We were really pleased with the room we got.... top floor (next door to the bar!) It had been very recently refurbished.... very modern, bright & airy, huge, brand new bathroom & a plasma screen TV. The room was spotlessly clean and the linen, towels etc were clean and new. If I had to think of anything to moan about it would be the lack of extra pillows.... nothing else! Lovely! The staff were nice & helpful. The bar area, roof terrace, pool & gym were fantastic (so much more than you would expect for a 3*) We stayed on a B&B basis... breakfast was fantastic. Again, much better than most 3*. A huge choice of food which was constantly replenished and attentive staff making sure plates etc were cleared away quickly. Lots of reviews on here moaned about the noise from the road & the 'undesirables' lurking outside the hotel (?!) Las Palmas is a city... a working city - not a tourist resort. Of course there's road noise, bustle & people.... what do you expect?! The Astoria is not central for the 'Old Town' so probably not the best for those wanting to explore the harbour, churches or Triana. It is however fab for Las Arenas shopping centre (Wow!!) and the main shopping street (Las Palmas' answer to Oxford St!) We did struggle to find any restaurants around this area though (the Canarian's tending to opt of 'cafes' rather than restaurants as such) A much better selection around the Old Town & Triana. I should also say, parking in Las Palmas is a total nightmare!! There are lots of multistories dotted about but quite expensive. Canarian drivers are bonkers so be prepared ! We were quite lucky & managed to find on-street parking a few streets away from the hotel. We then left the car for the rest of out stay & scooted about in taxis (cheap & stress-free!) Overall, a fab little hotel right in the midst of the city. A good spot to explore the Island's capital !

Room Tip: Request a quiet room on a high floor

“Good city hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Hotel is situated very well, near the Las Canteras beach, just few minutes walk to the beach. Staff is very friendly and most of them keep smiling all the time ;)
Breakfast was huge and enough for half the day. Rooms are clean and were cleaned every day.
There is a nice bar upstairs and a small pool and sun bathing area and Sauna and a gym.
I missed only fridge and balcony in the room, otherwise I could go back there again.
But for a short visit it is just great hotel to go to.

“Highly recommend this Hotel”

Hotel staff excellent, especially Sergio at reception. Hotel location superb as only 3 minutes from the beach. Buffet breakfast and buffet dinner, again absolutely superb value. 20 euros per couple and that includes half carafe wine and jug water. Staff in restaurant couldnt do enough for you. Restaurant is casual though so dont expect table cloths but being the way I am with Spanish food I found the selection great. The rooftop pool is superb they have a sauna and gym on the roof as well. There is 3 computers on rooftop and free internet access. A bar and a television. The whole hotel is superbly furnished no problems there at all. Room was massive including very large walk in wardrobe bathroom was huge. All in all delighted. I was there as my husband and I had come on a cruise on Grand Princess and my husband took a heart attack, I had been put in this hotel by the Port Agent and frankly I could not have chosen a better hotel myself. The staff were absolutely superb to me. Helped me out with faxes etc just superb. The price of this hotel is excellent and just could not fault it at all. When I needed a taxi to go to the hospital to visit my husband the taxis were up and down this street all day got one in a matter of minutes. There are lots of shops around as well. Felt it was the best hotel in this particular area. Was told theres not many with pools but this one does have a pool and a nice one on the roof!

Room Tip: I was on the 5th Floor which has all the facilities, so if you want it quite I would suggest you don...
