We stayed at the Faycan in Sept 2011. The rooms were large, and clean, with kitchen area, bath, shower and bidet. The rooms were right next to the beach, and we could look out of the window and see and hear the sea. The morning breakfast was really good value, lots of choice.
You are only 10 mins walk away from the bus stations, where there are local and global buses that can take you all over the island very cheaply.
There are lots of food and drinking places on the sea front a couple of mins walk from the hotel.
The only criticism that I have was that the concierges were not particularly sociable. They never smiled or asked you if you had a nice day out or anything.
The other problem was that bizzarely there was a tour shop nearby, Zafiro, that only did trips from the other end of the island!! We went to places on the global buses instead, and it actually saved us a fortune !
At the weekend there was a lot of shouting from drunk local lads during the night.
All in all though, it was a great hotel, very good value
