We booked this hotel for two nights hoping for a bit of luxery at the end of our holiday, we were disapointed! This is definitely not 5 star, more like 3. Our room on the 4th floor, had a beautiful beach view but it had peeling dated wallpaper, a lumpy bed and and grubby cream carpet. It needs a total makeover.
The breakfast was ok, but no dinner or room service offered! The pool was too cold to swim in while we were there and we asked about a spa service but were told there was none....in a 5 star hotel, unbelievable!
The hotel lacked athmosphere, there was no bar, entertainment, or spa , just a place to sleep. It cost us over 300 for two night B+B which was pricy for what we got.
On the positive side, the view from our balcony was amazing, pool and beach but the hotel photos on the internet bear no resemblance to the reality.
A special mention for the TV engineer who came to our room promptly twice to help us get our DVD player working throught the TV, this was great and much appreciated.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. We got pretty much what we expected. The hotel is ok if you dont´t expect too much. Our room was at the 2nd floor - that was both good and bad..Good was that it was easy to get out and back since the elevators were very slow, bad was that the room was not yet renovated like I understood the upper floors were.. Also we would have liked some information about the hotel in our room, but couldn´t find any. We liked the seaview and the balcony to sit in the evenings and also breakfast was good, lots of fruits to start the morning. Although the weather would have been warmer we enjoyed our holiday and would stay in that hotel again.

Hotel Cristina is a good hotel, but maybe not what you expect from a five star hotel. It would be a good idea to downgrade the hotel to four stars. That would make it more in line with the guests' expectations. We stayed a week at this hotel seven years ago when it was called Melia Las Palmas. Our room looked excactly the same now as then, so only the hotel name seemed to have changed. The room was spotlessly clean, though. This time we stayed for two days and had a nice stay. The room was comfortable and service was friendly and efficient. Location is great both for the Las Canteras beach and the Santa Catalina park. Nice breakfast served in a breakfast room with a terrace if the weather allows it. There is a sun terrace with sun beds and a pool on the front side of the hotel. Free WIFI. Parking in own garage in the
basement under the hotel. All in all we had a pleasant stay and wouldn't mind coming back here another time.

The other reviews are correct, this isn't what you might expect from a five star hotel.
It is pleasant enough... just not five star.
The location is very good, right on Las Canteras beach with all the associated beach type stuff going on, when I was there it was sand sculptures.
Its pedestrianised outside and the sea view room I had was quite high although, for Spain, things didn't seem to go too late at night so it was nice and quiet.
Breakfast was good although the room really does need a new carpet or a thorugh steam clean of the one that's there at the moment.
I ate out the rest of the time as the area is over supplied with cheap (and expensive) restaurants. If you think that, like other hotels, there might be a folder in your room with information about the local area or, indeed, the hotel, you'd be disappointed.
The sun terrace is very nice, pool and loungers but, when I was there, no service... so no tall glasses of cocktails while you read your book.
I have to say that the staff, when I came across anybody, were very pleasant, it's just that I rarely saw anyone except the reception staff.
The fire alarm went off three times between 0500 and 0700 which was a bit irritating and the fact that there was no freebie to compensate was a trifle mean...
It was a false alarm which was indicated by a staff member (?) walking around with a torch who, when asked (he didn't volunteer any information) told me 'No problem'. Presumably if there had been a problem he might have been a little more forthcoming? Other heads did poke out of the rooms on my floor to ask what was going on as they were similarly confused.
Finally I would agree with the descriptionof the elevator, careful or it'll take your legs off.
