“Would definitely go back!”

Just returned from a very pleasant holiday at these apartments. We werent expecting much as we knew they were quite basic but i was surprised at how clean the apartments were. We went here for a weeks holiday with my parents as my dad has just turned 60. We were shocked to return to our apartment one evening to find a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket to celebrate. This made my dads holiday complete. The staff were all friendly and easy to approach. Yes this is quite basic apartments, but overall was a fantastic holiday and we will definitely be returning later in the year.

Room Tip: Give it a go, you will be pleasantly surprised :)

“back again”

we visited the castillo de sol again for the first 2 weeks in january.this is our third stay here and we were not dissapointed.we have been going to puerto rico on and off for 22 years and have stopped in a lot of different appartments, but i think we have found the ones we will return to for hopefully many years to come.we arrived on new years eve hoping to celebrate seeing in the new year at the pool bar as we did last year, but to our dissapointment there were only 4 people
there.last year the place was heaving and lorraine put on one of her shows and everybody had a great time.next morning we went to reception and there was lorraine who explained she was now working there.on the first tuesday of our holiday we heard lorraine by the pool, she was back.from then on our holiday began! with me joining in all the games while my wife sunbathed.
lorraine definateley makes our holiday and she is why we return there, the first few days while she wasn't doing the entertainment was very quiet and dull.if you want good basic accomodation at a reasonable price then these are the appartments for you,all the staff are very friendly and the cleaners keep the place spotless.also everybody speaks to each other and you see the same people who come back year after year.

“Basic Accommodation - But Lots of Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Just had another week at the Castillo De Sol and I'm already looking forward to going back! The apartments are basic, but they are clean and the majority of staff are so friendly. Having stayed here numerous times its just like going to visit friends! The people staying here are also usually very friendly and many of them are repeat visitors. We met up with a group of blokes from Wrexham who were a great laugh. Lorraine is back doing the entertainment after a short spell on the reception and she is as good as ever. She makes a point of chatting to everyone and remembers everyones names. She's a lovely friendly person who doesnt pester you if you dont want to join in. There was a new Thomas Cook rep there called Claire who was a lovely girl, although I think she has now gone to another resort. I was sorry that there wasnt a few more cats around, as I only saw one around the pool bar whilst I was there - there use to be loads of them!

There have been some alterations made since I was last there - new seats in the pool bar, some painting around the pool, a new canopy at the entrance etc. Although I think that the insides of the apartments are now in need of a bit of a refurb and the sunbeds could do with updating. They are not particularly comfy and some are broken. They are also now very strict on reserving sunbeds before 10am, to the point where they came and told you off if you put your towel out before then. Which got a bit petty as it meant that at 9.45am people started to form a queue so that they could get the best beds! The TV's in the rooms have been replaced with new flat screen ones, but they are no longer coin operated. You have to pay something like 3 euros per day or 15 euros per week to use them. Personally we didnt use them, although had they been coin operated like previously then we may have put the odd coin in.

Despite a couple of criticisms, I would like to point out that we had a great time at the Castillo and we will return. There were 6 of us and we are all regulars at those apartments. It was infact my husbands 40th birthday and he had a wonderful day, taking part in mini golf, darts and winning a cocktail on bingo, plus getting a free bottle of bubbly as it was his birthday.

There are many great places to eat in the resort and some very cheap bars. Our favourite restuarants were La Cabanna and El Pescadors. Bars included Kim and Steves Pub, Sun Spot and M&M's. The Pub has entertainment on most nights and we saw Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton acts, who were both good. Kim and Steve are also very good hosts.

Looking forward to returning.

“Castillo De Smell”

We booked this apt very late, as we couldn't find anything. It was £100 for 2 nights for 2 people. The entrance and pool were very clean and the staff at the desk were very nice, but when we got to the room it was the end of nice.
The place stank of smoke. I'm not a smoker, but this was making my head and throat sore. We were told no other rooms, but the next morning I said I know we are only here for 2 nights, but I can't stand it. The girl ay reception said she would have the curtains and top bedding changed. We lay at the pool just below our apt. She never changed them, she shut the curtains and mopped the floor. We had to do something, so off to the shop to get air freshener. We doused the curtains and bedding with it. Helped a little. That was the downfall of this stay.... unfortunate.

“Brilliant holiday at Castillo del Sol !”

We flew with Thomas Cook 22nd - 29th Dec and arrived at about 6pm having been the last drop off.We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who checked us in very quickly and we were allocated a room on 7th floor and we had a spectacular view.
The apartment was adequate for what we wanted and was spotless clean. It had fridge, oven and hob, kettle, plates, cutlery etc.The bedroom had 2 single beds which we pushed together and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space.Bathroom had walk in shower and fresh clean towels.I couldn't fault it one bit!!
It is very high up on the hill and we walked down the steps on a morning and few times walked back up them at night but a taxi was only 3 euros.
On the 2nd morning we spoke to another very friendly receptionist called Lorraine and she was such a lovely, friendly ,warm and helpful person....Thanks for making us feel so welcome Lorraine.
We had a great stay here over the Christmas period and would not hesitate to visit Castillo again and would definitely recommend it. Loved it!!

Room Tip: We staryed on 7th floor but every floor had a fantastic view.
