“Really really clean”

We traveled with two children ages 10 & 11, we also had the granparents with us. The place itself is pretty basic, but has all you need . Really really clean, and the pool is great. Very close to the beach and resort ( not great if your looking for nightlife). Accesss to the nearby hotel with spa, entertainment and pool , also has internet access. The best place to eat is Laurel & Hardy food is good and great value for money. The vista plays does a great breakfast. All in all a great place, although the rooms are a bit small.

“OUTSTANDING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2008

This has been my first beach holiday abroad for a few years, and I can tell you, I enjoyed every single minute of it. After arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the hotel manager, who had kindly showed us to our appartment., and had told us things like what time the swimming pool was closed and what time breakfast was served etc.

After having unpacked on the first night, we wandered down to the restaurant for dinner about 10pm local time, and the food was so good, that it words cannot describe how good it was.

There are several beautiful coves near by with good restaurants overlooking them. There are little corner shops just several minutes away (these tend to close for a short while in the afternoon from about 2pm-5pm) and the staff are very helpful to shoppers.

There is a bus stop located outside the hotel, but these buses run at irregular periods, so it would be handy for you to use a timetable of some sort. There are more buses during mid-morning and early evening than any other time of day.

I would also reccommend taking some tours, because outside of Cuitadella, there is a lot more to see and do on the island than what you really think. In the space of approximately 15 miles (24km) you can find a cheese farm, a 1000ft mountain which has a cathedral situated at the top of it (On sunny days, a view of neighbouring island Majorca can be seen (it is 1 hour away by boat if you fancy a day trip)), a fishing village, outlet shopping centres and a lot more. However, Mahon does have some good things too. On Saturday mornings, there is a very very large market, which is situated a 10 minute walk away from the port. A tour of the port takes an hour and in that time you are able to learn a lot about the history of the town.

Because the Vista Playa hotel belongs to the same company, you are allowed to go there whenever you want to and can enjoy the evening entertainment free of charge. However, this entertainment is mainly aimed at families with very young children.

Another thing I would recommend is if you prefer to buy your own meals etc. from the shop, then what I did most mornings was eat on the balcolny which was located in front of my apartment. You can get a very good view of the nearby hotel. the swimming pool and a few of the coves. It is a very nice way to wake up in the mornings, and looks magical by nighttimes

The room was cleaned everyday, and the cleaner had made a very good job of keeping our room clean, and they always said hello to you if they passed you on their way.

Inside the room the facilities were good. There was a bedroom, a wardrobe, a kitchen with a microwave, oven, fridge. We were also given cups and plates and cutlery. There was also a sofa which could also be used as a bed. (It is noticeable however when you turn over, because it makes a very loud creaky noise!)

There was always a member of staff available day or night. This had come in very handy for us, as we needed to be at the airport (which was about 40 minutes away) by 5.30 in the morning to get back.

I cannot wait to come back.

just returned from vista playa 2 apartments menorca..these are 6 apartments and 2 small villas around a pool..one tip if you book independantly and you take a taxi to cala blanca, get them to drop you off at the hotel sagittario, as that is where the reception is and you collect your keys.. we were dropped of at the vista playa 1 apartments thinking 2 was next door, so we had a short walk with our cases to hotel sagittario booked in then another short walk across the road to the vista playa 2 apartments.. we were in apartment 1 on the ground floor, very spacious 2 bedrooms, couldnt get the air con to work only one ceiling fan in one bedroom, i think air con had just been installed so obviously not all working at the mo.had a few probs with ants but soon sorted out went to reception gave me huge can of ant spray, sprayed it inside and out, (it worked they never returned) mind you i did go mad with it..had a nice meal in a place called sa quadra i think thats how you spell it, its a cave in santandria. also a nice breakfast at vista playa 1 apartment, chinese restaurant next door disgusting, had to send pork back twice as not cooked properley.also if you like you can use the hotel sagittario for meals you just turn up and pay in the restaurant..dannys bar just around the corner very comfy chairs to sit in..lovely irish coffee..overall a good time was had, weather fab..

“not a villa..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2007

We booked up for Menorca, having been in 2006 and absolutly loved it! In 2006 we had a villa with private facilities, pool etc which was lovely. The vista playa villas are advertised as exactly that but are not.. They are 2 villas which are situated around an apartment complex, not what we wanted at all.

Cala Blanca is a ghost town, the year before we stayed in Cala Blanes which is much better especially if you have kids which we have. I highly recommend Menorca but not this resort and not this accomodation.

“Menorca - Choose your resort wisely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2007

I have recently travelled to Menorca with my partner. We enjoy trying local foods, and having some sites to visit as well as plenty of sun and beach.

Menorca is a great choice if you are wanting all of the above, but you must choose your resort wisely.

I booked our hotel based on what was availible and the price, but I would definatly have looked a little deeper in hindsight.

Menorca itself lived up to all our expectations, it is a quiet island with good local food, plenty of history and sites with friendly locals. The best places on the island are Cuitadella for history (we didnt visit mahon) and Fernells for food. Plus there are some magnificent unspoilt beaches in Cala Gabanna (if you can stay here, id definatly reccommend it!).

However, Cala Blanca on the west coast is a tired, worn out resort. The resort is aimed at families and the local shops/resturants reflect this. This is really good if you want a family holiday, but the reviews say its suitable for couples as well as families. The commercial area has mainly english pub type resturants serving English dishes only. There are no lively bars for the evening, but plenty of places showing football and old english TV programmes, again fine if that is your thing but if its not, i'd aviod it

There is a good resturant overlooking the beach (linked to one of the apartments) but, as with all of the island, the seafood is really expensive compared to the other meals.

The Vista Playa apaertments are ok, but are not quite a hotel, not quite a villa type apartment. The rooms seem to have numerous problems with ventilation/heating/air conditioning and damp despite some recent refurbishment.

Overall, I would definately go again, but make sure you choose your resort wisely if you dont want to be dissappointed
