“Very Functional but not a lot else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Stayed here last week w/c 24-10 on an all inclusive basis
We were supposed to be staying at its sister hotel in Cala en Porter, but they shut it early
We were given a suite , but it smell very damp and musty but it was clean
Food was ok but the restaurant lacked atmosphere, felt like being at School again
If you wanted a drink a the bar , be prepared to wait and wait.
The staff overall were very good but not many off them to cover all the area's.
Never used the pool as the weather was not great.
As I said very functional a bit like an Ibris but more expensive.

“This is NOT a holiday hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We read all the positive reports on Tripadvisor and all I can say is that we were very disappointed. If you are looking for a holiday or short stay hotel for a break, unless you are in Menorca on business, this hotel cannot be described as a holiday resort. There were a lot of guests looking perplexed with the destination that they found themselves in. The hotel is completely devoid of any atmosphere and I would say it is soulless. Yes it is clean and the staff are nice but this is not a hotel to head to for a holiday! We cancelled our booking via On The Beach, really they should not be booking this for holiday makers, and booked into a hotel at Cala Galdana which was worlds apart in my opinion. And the location is not correct on the map. It is further along the inlet with only a few rooms actually facing the sea for which you had to pay an extra €30 Euros a night. The hotel is a good 20 mins walk into Cuitadella and the short walk is full of potholes and uneven pavements. There was a manhole cover with a sharp rusty iron edge sticking out of the ground by at least an inch, wouldn't like to trip over that late at night! Avoid if you are heading to Menorca on holiday. Like a business hotel, there was no coffee and tea making facilities in the room unless you paid for it and you had to pay extra for most things, parking, gym etc.

“Marbel, Marble and more Marble”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We cannot fault many of the reviews we read so I won't repeat what others have already said, but we were a little disappointed at the noise levels in the hotel which were simply due to the fact that there is so much Marble everywhere. People walking the corridor, talking, shutting doors all echoed into our room every night.

The room itself was 'compact' with a bed that I found uncomfortably hard, the bathroom (Marble of course) had a jacuzi bath with a shower which sounds lovely but was let down by the amount of white sealant that was crudely applied around every edge.

In spite of this our shower leaked to such an extent that you needed two towels on the floor to soak up the water. After twice reporting this to the desk the maintenance guy applied even more sealant which immobilised the glass screen and meant that to get into the bath you had to climb over the toilet bowl... and it still leaked!

It should be noted that there is a very limited "Sea View" at this hotel. Our Sea View room (256) on the top floor looked out over a narrow water inlet which at first glance looked like a river. There is a tiny beach near the hotel that is disappointing and impossible to see from any of the rooms, but the view of the Promenade made this room a better choice than those that overlooked side streets and buildings.

Real beaches were plentiful and within a 15 - 30 minute bus ride away. This part of Menorca has some of the best beaches in Spain so this hotel is a good choice provided you are happy to walk to the shops / restaurants and travel to the beach, but be aware that clothes are optional on many of the quieter beaches :-o

Room Tip: Sea View best

“Very good indeed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We spent a very enjoyable week at the Port Ciutadella Hotel. It is a very well run, modern, bright and shiny hotel, with a lovely situation on the 'promenade', with views of the sea and an easy 15 minute walk into Ciutadella harbour/town. The rooms are kept very clean and are comfortable with good sized shiny bathrooms with two basins and a jacuzzi bath, which was a treat. Very well kept outdoor swimming pool in the centre of the hotel with plenty of sun loungers and two upper sunbathing areas too. We did not use the indoor pool/spa facilities so cannot comment on those. The breakfast was good with a wide variety of fresh hot and cold options and fresh eggs and omelettes cooked to order, and even good coffee. The restaurant is in the basement of the hotel so does lack a little in atmosphere for evening dining, and as we were staying on a bed and breakfast basis cannot comment on the food, but the menus displayed daily seemed to offer very good value for money. The rooms on the front and the west side of the hotel overlook the sea and the promenade and we particularly enjoyed watching the sunset every evening from our balcony in room 234. The half bottle of Cava on ice, placed in our room on the Saturday evening was also a nice treat. Good value for money and we would definitely look forward to returning again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front overlook the sea and promenade and rooms on the west side of the hotel are great...
