“Overall, a very relaxing holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing 2 weeks here - Cala N Bosch is a resort very much for families. I would have said 80-90% of those around the resort were families.
The Tamariscos served our purposes - the apartments are on a par with most average self catering apartments anywhere in the Med. They are basic but for this type of holiday, that suits us fine. Others have mentioned not having kettle or toaster which you have to hire but we did without. Looking at it from another angle, particularly in the Greek islands you usually have to hire the air con for the two weeks but here it is included. Cleaning service a bit hit & miss - second week we went 3 days without a maid coming. She then came the final day before we were leaving and did the best clean of the whole 2 weeks, no doubt angling for a tip!
We had a 1 bed apt which was fine for us with our two children aged 9 & 6. Families with older children or more than 4 of you would probably need a 2 bed.
The location is the big attraction - right next to the beach and short stroll to the marina. Two decent sized pools but they could do with updating the sunbeds round the pool overlooking the beach - many did not have 'backs' to them that you could raise up and they also need a few more sun shades as there was not enough to go round.
The beach is small and does get very busy as a result although it is very wide. We found it best to go across to the far side and back from the actual shoreline so you felt as though you had a bit more personal space! We didn't bother with the sunbeds on the beach - we bought a sunshade from the shops (9euros) and used that. Also if you are based round by the pool you can wander down to the sea in 30 secs anyway. Snorkelling was good, lots of fish around for the children to see.
The Marina is a very nice area to go in the evenings where all the restaurants, bars and shops are. We ate mainly at Bahia which was really good - we tried others such as Mr Jaume, El pato, Piccola all of which were okay but the food was consistently good at Bahia and the staff really friendly. On average a meal with drinks for 4 of us was in the region of 30-40 euros depending on what you had. Fish was quite expensive.
Couple of times I wandered down late afternoon to watch some football with a couple of beers - Legends a good place to do this, 2 euros a pint.
Visiting Ciutedella is well worth doing. Some great little shops through the cobbled streets. Catch the 65 bus from the stop just down the road from the apts (at the mini roundabout). One way to Ciutedella was 7.40 euros for the 4 of us. And they are properly smart coaches rather than your average bus (yellow & red 'Torres' coaches).
Other little tips, best supermarket is the Topmarket at far end of Marina (has a nice little bakery section) and there is a cash machine outside aswell. Pharmacy that area aswell if you need it.
If you are a family looking for a week or two in the sun at a reasonable price and are happy with your basic self catering apts, then this is not going to be far out.

Room Tip: We had room 301 - top floor overlooking pool and beach. Was very quiet location and we were really p...

“Fantastic staff. Amazing seaviews. Lovely pool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

The room had a large balcony with the most amazing seaview. It was so lovely to sit there and just gaze out to sea. There are two swimming pools at this hotel, one gets the morning sun and overlooks the beach and sea, the other gets the afternoon sun and overlooks the sea. The latter is more quiet and also has a shallow paddling pool next to it. The hotel is next to the beach and you can swap from one to the other very easily. We were in a one bedroom apartment. This was clean and big. The bathroom was a higher standard than expected, with a good size bath, a powerful shower and a hairdryer. The kitchen was adequate to cook simple meals. We brought along our own travel kettle.

There is a mini disco 6 nights a week for 30 mins and one or two professional shows a week. There are some children's activities 5 mornings a week and 6 afternoons a week such as water polo and football. It is quite lowkey and does not disturb peple who are not joining in. There are also two small children's playgrounds and mini-golf in the grounds. The bar also has lovely views and is airy, big and bright with a nice atmosphere. It is a place where you can easily linger, have a drink, enjoy the breeze, read a book, enjoy the views. It is very easy to get to the centre of Calan Bosch where there are lots of restaurants, supermarkets, shops etc. It felt very safe and most people were holidaying with their families.

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, especially at reception. They are outstandingly kind and helpful. I have never stayed in a hotel with more caring and considerate staff. The hotel is very lucky to have them as they really made the place special. In general, people at the resort were very nice and friendly.

This is a great hotel and if the hotel could change the hiring of the kettle, toaster, microwave and safe key into refundable deposits, then I am sure its ratings on tripadvisor would go up. All in all, a very memorable holiday and a highly recommended hotel.

Room Tip: Menorca tap water is salty so you have to buy bottled water to drink. This is easily available in th...

“Fantastic Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

Many reviews spoke about the fantastic location but you just can't appreciate it until you have stayed here. The pools were lovely and the sea just a minute from your sunbed. Talking of sunbeds this is the first place in many holiday destinations that we have visited that you could still get a group of four sunbeds at lunchtime. Yes there were people who put towels down and disappeared but this didn't cause a problem as there were plenty available throughout the day.
We had a two bedroom apartment which had two good size bedrooms, a huge living area, plenty storage area and two very small balconies - four of us still managed to eat lunch on the balcony!! The apartment paintwork could do with a freshen up but it didn't pose a problem and they were cleaned most days.
Some fantastic restaurants in the marina our favorite being Piccola.
This was such a relaxing holiday and I'm sure we will be back sometime in the future.
