The attraction to the Grupotel Club Menorca was the all inclusive option, also the added space of an apartment and obviously the location played a part in our choice.
Reviews of the property in English are pretty much hard to find so it came as no surprise to us that we turned out to be the only English couple there, despite this we received a very friendly welcome and most of the staff could speak English very capably. The remainder of the guests were German.
The apartment was basically furnished and comfortable, although I can't work out why kettles should be an optional extra! Nevertheless at a cost these could be hired from reception, as could a key for the room safe. Maid service was 5 times / week, towels changed on request and linen changed once a week.
The all inclusive drinks option served local, spirits wines and beers and in the main these were very good. These were served between 10:00 & 24:00hrs at the pool bar during the day and the main lounge bar in the evening. Unfortunately the entertainment didn't match and was lacking quality, whilst the hotel did provide some local animators who in fairness tried hard but the overall performance was pretty poor. They do have one professional act per week, possibly more in main season.
The dining room is pleasantly set out, but despite this there is a serious question mark over the quality of the food on offer. There is a reasonable range of salad but rarely any meat to accompany the salad, The main courses left a lot to be desired, chips with every meal, frozen vegetables and the only vegetables which were allegedly fresh had been so badly cooked they were full of water and completey un-appetising in flavour.
Despite the time you arrived in the restaurant the meat and fish dishes looked as though they had already spent a life time in gravy under the heat of the hot plate lights and had possibly died from their experience. To refresh them the chef would come around frequently to give them a stir and when looking too dry or sad would pour additional gravy over the meat to give it a "lift". Unfortunately this only describes lunchtime and if you are a serious all inclusive guest then the whole experience was replayed at dinner time for those that had the nerve and fortitude to return.
Wine, beer, coffee and fizzy drinks were on offer in the restaurant on a help yourself basis. The "help your self" basis seemed to be an invite to small German children clearly without any parental control to master the art of pouring fizzy drinks to excess - pulling drip trays to the floor because they were too small to reach, sampling chips from the the hot plates by reaching in with their hands and only when a child gets burnt or a glass gets smashed then does the German parent come to life, which in turn leads to futher screams and tears.
In all truth, the majority of the children and parents were extremely well mannered, spoilt by an idiot few.
In summary as an apartment only accommodation then it meets the criteria, but as an all inclusive, and you like good food take my advice think again!
