The attraction to the Grupotel Club Menorca was the all inclusive option, also the added space of an apartment and obviously the location played a part in our choice.

Reviews of the property in English are pretty much hard to find so it came as no surprise to us that we turned out to be the only English couple there, despite this we received a very friendly welcome and most of the staff could speak English very capably. The remainder of the guests were German.

The apartment was basically furnished and comfortable, although I can't work out why kettles should be an optional extra! Nevertheless at a cost these could be hired from reception, as could a key for the room safe. Maid service was 5 times / week, towels changed on request and linen changed once a week.

The all inclusive drinks option served local, spirits wines and beers and in the main these were very good. These were served between 10:00 & 24:00hrs at the pool bar during the day and the main lounge bar in the evening. Unfortunately the entertainment didn't match and was lacking quality, whilst the hotel did provide some local animators who in fairness tried hard but the overall performance was pretty poor. They do have one professional act per week, possibly more in main season.

The dining room is pleasantly set out, but despite this there is a serious question mark over the quality of the food on offer. There is a reasonable range of salad but rarely any meat to accompany the salad, The main courses left a lot to be desired, chips with every meal, frozen vegetables and the only vegetables which were allegedly fresh had been so badly cooked they were full of water and completey un-appetising in flavour.

Despite the time you arrived in the restaurant the meat and fish dishes looked as though they had already spent a life time in gravy under the heat of the hot plate lights and had possibly died from their experience. To refresh them the chef would come around frequently to give them a stir and when looking too dry or sad would pour additional gravy over the meat to give it a "lift". Unfortunately this only describes lunchtime and if you are a serious all inclusive guest then the whole experience was replayed at dinner time for those that had the nerve and fortitude to return.

Wine, beer, coffee and fizzy drinks were on offer in the restaurant on a help yourself basis. The "help your self" basis seemed to be an invite to small German children clearly without any parental control to master the art of pouring fizzy drinks to excess - pulling drip trays to the floor because they were too small to reach, sampling chips from the the hot plates by reaching in with their hands and only when a child gets burnt or a glass gets smashed then does the German parent come to life, which in turn leads to futher screams and tears.

In all truth, the majority of the children and parents were extremely well mannered, spoilt by an idiot few.

In summary as an apartment only accommodation then it meets the criteria, but as an all inclusive, and you like good food take my advice think again!

“Awful...Noisy... Unfriendly Staff...Need Another Holiday After This”

We arrived in the evening to discover our apartment had no electricity , reception was not open so we had to spend out first evening in darkness. The second evening we were subjected to the most amateurish entertainment I have ever encountered. It was so loud that it was difficult to converse at a normal level in the apartment. This went on until 11 pm every night. When we asked to be moved to a quieter room we were told that there would be a charge for the move which they refused to waiver despite us having no electricity for a night and no hot water most of the time.

The food which was available in the restaurant looked appealing but on the two ocassions that I tried it I was violently ill.

I was pleased to get back to my london apartment just so I could experience a night without blaring music and amateur entertainers. If you want a relaxing holiday do not go here.If anybody wants video evidence of the noise I am happy to share it.

“A good family hotel”

I must admit it is difficult to read any reviews on this hotel, except on German websites, thus we were not surprised to find it is mainly German clients who frequent this hotel. That said there is a good smattering of English, Dutch, Spanish and Italians in the background.

The hotel complex is set out in a Spanish 'street style', with charming village type squares, lovely gardens and plants, and a relaxing ambience.

Four of us (two adults, one child, one baby) stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was spacious and had full kitchen facilities, with fridge and microwave. The decor was pleasant, and our room was visited by a cleaner five days out of seven. She did a great job, and as we have children, everything was kept in good order

The only negative regarding the rooms is that they lack air-conditioning, but fans can be hired from the helpful reception desk.

The centralised pool is very large, and has a seperate children's section. The gardens around the pool are lovely, and plenty of sunbeds are available, either set out around the pool or stacked in strategic positions so you can take them to your desired area.

There is a great free kids club run by Bea and her team. There is a host of creative activities here for the youngsters and they were very welcoming to our five-year-old who had a fantastic time with children of other ages and nationalities.

Entertainment is nightly, fairly low key, with two professional show per week - (watch out for the plate spinning juggler - he is hilarious). There is a nightly kids disco, and the rest of the entertainment is provided by the animation team who do a good job and are very friendly.

We dined at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and thought the 18 euro per person ( half price for kids) charge was a bit expensive, but this did include all your drinks whilst in the dining area, including wine, so ultimately it wasn't bad value after all. The food was of a reasonably good standard, with the usual buffet style offerings.

The hotel is situated about 150 metres from one of the three lovely beaches in the resort and about 300 metres from the picturesque harbour of Cala N Bosch.

Children are very well catered for in Menorca, and I would thoroughly recommend this island for parents with young families

In summing up we found the Grupotel Club Menorca to be a good base, very clean, and offering good value for money
