We booked the Hotel Aldea less than a week before travelling at the end of August through First Choice on an accomodation only basis having booked our flights seperately. We had looked at previous reviews that advised that the hotel was predominantly German cleints and that it was clean and the staff were friendly. We found all this to be true, the rooms were a good size although there were only 2 eletric rings on which to cook. We had booked breakfast for the duration of our stay and ate out every evening so this did not affect us. Our only critisism was that the beds were a bit uncomfortable but they were bearable.
Breakfast was the only meal we had in the hotel so I cannot comment on the evening buffet but the breakfast was always tasty and plentiful with a great choice.
The rooms were cleaned 5 out of the 7 days we were there, always to a good standard.
The pool area was clean and well kept and most of the time there was a life guard on duty. There were pleny of sunbeds and although it was August, neither pools (there are 2)were ever crowded and we always found free beds whatever time of the day we used the them.
There is a path leading from the hotel directly onto the Cala n Bosch beach which is a sandy beach and was quite busy. The Son Xoriguer beach s a 10 minute walk away from the front of the hotel but is worth the extra stroll.
We always found the staff friendly and helpful and ready to give advise/directions/assistance etc if asked.
We have 2 children of 10 and 5 years and although there was a hotel run kids club, we did not use it. As mentioned before there were quite a few German families at the hotel but there were some English guests as well and the kids found other children to play with while at the pool.
The hotel had a laid back, tranquil feel to it which is exactly what we wanted. If you are looking for 'full on' kids clubs and 'in your face' entertainment then this hotel is probably not for you but for a more relaxed 'take it at your own pace' holiday it is ideal.
There is a handy supermarket across the road for your essentials which is no moer expensive thean the larger shops around the harbour.
All in all we had a great holiday and would return to this hotel.
my tips for a holiday to Cal n Bosch would be;
Visit the caves at Cala n Porter, for a laid back resort with a great beach visit Santo Thomas, the water park at Cala n Bosch was great for our kids (10 & 5), The kids loved a visit to Goody Goody play area for the carts/bouncy castles/trampolines/mini golf etc. which is near the entrance to the harbour in Cala n Bosch. The Tropicana Restaurant serves great food (on the harbour). Hire a car or a few days- it's so easy to find your way about the island. Visit Cuiladela old town on market day.
