“Chill out at the Aldea”

We booked the Hotel Aldea less than a week before travelling at the end of August through First Choice on an accomodation only basis having booked our flights seperately. We had looked at previous reviews that advised that the hotel was predominantly German cleints and that it was clean and the staff were friendly. We found all this to be true, the rooms were a good size although there were only 2 eletric rings on which to cook. We had booked breakfast for the duration of our stay and ate out every evening so this did not affect us. Our only critisism was that the beds were a bit uncomfortable but they were bearable.
Breakfast was the only meal we had in the hotel so I cannot comment on the evening buffet but the breakfast was always tasty and plentiful with a great choice.
The rooms were cleaned 5 out of the 7 days we were there, always to a good standard.
The pool area was clean and well kept and most of the time there was a life guard on duty. There were pleny of sunbeds and although it was August, neither pools (there are 2)were ever crowded and we always found free beds whatever time of the day we used the them.
There is a path leading from the hotel directly onto the Cala n Bosch beach which is a sandy beach and was quite busy. The Son Xoriguer beach s a 10 minute walk away from the front of the hotel but is worth the extra stroll.
We always found the staff friendly and helpful and ready to give advise/directions/assistance etc if asked.
We have 2 children of 10 and 5 years and although there was a hotel run kids club, we did not use it. As mentioned before there were quite a few German families at the hotel but there were some English guests as well and the kids found other children to play with while at the pool.
The hotel had a laid back, tranquil feel to it which is exactly what we wanted. If you are looking for 'full on' kids clubs and 'in your face' entertainment then this hotel is probably not for you but for a more relaxed 'take it at your own pace' holiday it is ideal.
There is a handy supermarket across the road for your essentials which is no moer expensive thean the larger shops around the harbour.
All in all we had a great holiday and would return to this hotel.
my tips for a holiday to Cal n Bosch would be;
Visit the caves at Cala n Porter, for a laid back resort with a great beach visit Santo Thomas, the water park at Cala n Bosch was great for our kids (10 & 5), The kids loved a visit to Goody Goody play area for the carts/bouncy castles/trampolines/mini golf etc. which is near the entrance to the harbour in Cala n Bosch. The Tropicana Restaurant serves great food (on the harbour). Hire a car or a few days- it's so easy to find your way about the island. Visit Cuiladela old town on market day.

“Right on the beach but nice and quite.Great for children”

A lovely family atmosphere ! The hotel was in a great location with access straight onto the beach. We found the staff very friendly and the 2 pools were a nice size. We found the clientele a mix of english Spanish, Italian . The food was good considering the size of the hotel. Everywhere was clean and tidy, maids coming in most days to clean and give fresh towels. There were 12 in our party and I am pleased to say no putting towels on the sunbeds was necessary as there were plenty spare with parasols too.
Supermarket Julia across the road was great and very well stocked. Fresh baguettes, and rolls/cobs ect made up to order and very reasonably priced. There is another beach as you turn right out of the hotel at the main entrance this is a 10 min walk away and clearly sign posted.

We loved the walk to the marina in the evening, plenty of things to look at especially for the kids, lots of bars and even a bucking bronko ! (To which I did not go on !). Calan Bosch is mostly aimed at families and seems to be quiet by 11pm ish.

If you are planning a holiday at this hotel I would strongly recommend it, Apartments basic but clean and generally has a good vibe . Would definitely go again but for longer .

“lovely hotel, excellent value!”

Just returned from a one week stay in a one bedroom apartment at the Grupotel Aldea with my husband and two children, aged six and five. We had a fantastic holiday and the Aldea was perfect for us and met our expectations based on it being a three star apart-hotel and thought it provided excellent value for money.
I was anxious that a one bedroom apartment would not feel sufficient having stayed in two bedroomed apartments for the previous two years but was very happy with the apartment and it met our needs well. The air-conditioning (which sadly due to a not-so-good week of weather we did not need to use much) seemed to work very well. The reception hire quite a few different items suh as pool towels, kettles etc. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel was laid back and did not feel overcrowded at any time. There were always plenty of sunbeds, not once needing to 'reserve' them by way of putting towels out and the pool and surrounding areas were very clean The pools are fantastic for children and adults and were larger than I had expected from brochure pictures.
I was most impressed with the food at both breakfast and dinner. Very varied and well cooked, some of the best hotel buffet food I have had. The style of cusine was mediteranean for the most part. We didn't use the mini club facilities as such but my children enjoyed taking part in some activities in the pool and the mini disco. The lady running the entertainment was very sweet and she invited us along to a magic show which took part at nearby Grupotel.
Finally, the location is perhaps one of the best in calan bosch, being a one-minute walk to Calan Bosch beach and easy walk to both marina and Son Xoriguer. It has an excellent shop on its doorstep and we found car hire at Nuracar very good service.
If you want a low-rise 3 star apart-hotel set in pretty gardens with great food and good pool, I feel the Aldea is an excellent choice. We would definately return.

“Best family holiday !!”

Just got back from this beautiful place and missing it already. The apartments are clean spacious and comfortable esp with the air con in lounge and bedrooms. The bathroom had very powerful shower, clean towels were provided daily and bedding changed 3 times in 1 week. The maids were so friendly, and left sweets on our daughters pillow or swan shaped towels in the bathroom. There was no kettle or toaster but these could be hired from reception, however being half board we didnt need them and if we wanted a brew just boiled a pan of water on the two ring stove which heated up pretty quick. The food was excellent and something for everyone. There are a lot of dutch and german families stay here but the restaurant catered for all tastes. For evening meal there was a Good choice of meats, vegetables, rices, pastas, salads, soups, desserts, and for breakfasts all the cereals, toast, croissants, fresh fruit, full english etc. The food could not be faulted at all - absolutely beautiful! The pools were very clean and both large with plenty of sunbeds and parasols available. The pool snack bar opens between 12noon and 3pm serving hot and cold snacks, ice creams and drinks, or you can take your own drinks to the pool (there is a well stocked spar supermarket literally across the road from the apartments which is open till 10.30pm) The apartments are 5 - 10 mins walk to the marina which is perfect if you have little ones as you are not directly among the bars and restaurants but not too far away either. There is a land train that runs round the marina and along the sea front every half hour which does a round trip for 7euros each, worth doing both in day and also at night when the marina is lit up and also the nearby lighthouse. All in all we have had a fantastic holiday here, cant fault anything about it, and we will certainly be going back soon.

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

We arrived at midnight to be told that the apartments we had booked (Roc Lago) were fully booked. We were driven to the Aldea by the chef, tired and not very happy, only to be pleasantly surprised by the hotel! The apartment was spacious, clean and smell free. The kitchen had basic equipment including a microwave, but no toaster or kettle. The bathroom was clean and bright and the over bath shower was hot and powerful. We were originally given an apartment with a double bed which we were immediately moved from and this apartment was a bit fausty and pokey. Beds were changed twice during our week stay and towels changed when we left them in the bath.

The pool area was lovely, really clean and well kept. We were the only British during our stay and most of the guests seemed to be German or Italian families. There were lots of children playing in the pool and although naturally pretty noisy, they were well behaved. There was plenty of entertainment for the children, and George the Italian entertainment guy was fab and tried to get us to do water aerobics! I'm not sure i'd take children here though as there were no English speaking kids for them to play with.

We opted for self catering, and the hotel is a short stroll from the port which is lined with reasonably priced restaurants and a few gift shops and stalls. Although it's obviously built for tourists, it had a lovely feel to it, was extremely laid back and not at all pleb...although pizza or chicken and chips were available in most places if you wanted it! The nightlife is restaurant based and everything seems to go to sleep around midnight, but there are a few bars, one with a bucking bronco and one with karaoke.

The beaches were equally as close (one to the left and one to the right of the hotel) Beautiful but very busy. We went on a boat trip along the south coast stopping at a beach which was wonderful.

Citudella is about half an hour on the bus and I recommend this. It's totally different to Cala'n Boch and has a lively buzz to it. The last bus back is 12.40am.

While you're there, have an ensemada or 10! The best ones were in the supermarket opposite the front of the hotel!

I recommend this holiday for anyone with a young family or just looking to get away and have a relaxing time away from Kevin and Sharon!

I've rated this hotel as excellent because it was for the amount we paid.
