This hotel has to be the worst 4 star I have ever stayed in! Lovely grounds, nice rooms and friendly staff but the food - omg! Total chaos and disorder in the canteen - sorry restaurant, never any food being replenished and nearly always cold when you were lucky to get any. Not enough staff to cope with the volume of people. They worked their butts off but still couldn't keep up with the ever embarking hungry diners! Breakfast was an absolute disgrace, no bacon ready, no eggs, no milk, no cups etc etc. Constantly had to ask and then wait forever for anything to be ready. No clean tables to sit at or cutlery. We decided to give the evening meal a miss after the 2nd night and swapped it for lunch instead. This proved much better as in the volume of people, but sadly not the quality of food. We ate at the marina for 5 nights and can honestly say we never had a bad meal - and quite reasonable. All in all a niceish hotel in a very quiet area with poor food. Would I return?? Never!

Having stayed at the Princesa Playa before we were a little dissapointed that the food was not as good this time around. However it is much better than some other hotels we have stayed at.
The staff are hard working friendly and polite nothing is too much trouble.
I was a little shocked to read someone thought the rooms not very clean!! Our room was spotless and our maid went a mile further by putting away anything we left around. We have never had a issue with the cleaning the whole complex and grounds are a credit to the hard work of the mangement and staff.
The food was replenished quickly and only on one occasions did we not have something that was on offer that evening it dissapeared very quickly. There was plenty of fresh fruit which we had every day. Yogurt is not just the Natural varity but friut flovoured as well, also 0% fat ones are also available.
I do agree the layout of the food is a little strange the vegetables were no where near the meats and fish. On reflection I can now see why as it is the only other area that can accomodate hot food.
The grounds are beautiful and sunbeds can be put on the grassy areas under the trees giving some shade. We have just returned and the weather was much better than expected sunny every day.
We did not have to pay a deposit for the Beach Towels and returned them daily for fresh ones. Yes we did pay a deposit of 10 euros for the remote but heigho it was returnable!!! I can't understand anyone maoning about that. It was a change to have three English channels and as I felt a little unwell one day was a god send.
The beds are hard but the sofabed has a memory foam mattress which was very comfy.
I have just booked for September 2012 this time for 10 days not our normal 7, that alone must be all the recommendation you need.

my wife and i brother and his partner have just returned from 1 weeks half board at the princesa playa son xoriguer, what a superb hotel! the staff are all very good at there jobs, friendly and attentive. room cleaned every day+ fresh towels, pool towels when ever required- free, the rooms are nice clean airey ,modern and spacious. the gardens are lovely and very well maintained, the dining hall and reception are very pleasing to the eye and give you a feeling of luxury. the pool is glorious and clean. in fact we couldnt find very much at all negative about this hotel. the only small complaint i would have is that the food hall is poorly laid out, there was no flow to the buffet, as hot food was one end, and the hot vegatables were the other end, salads were not with the breads, deserts were with salads and starters, once you had established where to find what you wanted it was all very good quality and well prepared food. the waiters are all really nice and well humoured. we liked it so much we are even considering another holiday there! that would be very unlike us , but when you find a hotel as good as this one ,it makes sence to return.

Just back from Princesa Playa and thought it was a great hotel! Very helpful staff, Juan the waiter was so sweet and good fun! We were given an apartment which was brilliant. It was cleaned to a good standard every day and towels replaced. The hotel itself was fresh and clean and the pool area and grounds so pretty. Pool a bit too cold for me, but I am a wimp! Food excellent, could not fault the choice, i am fussy but there was always something that I could eat. Some people moaned about waiting in the queues for food, but in my opininon if you want to sit on your chair and be served - don't go for a hotel with a buffet restuarant! The local beach, just a 3 min walk was gorgeous, and a 10 minute walt to the marina, which was very pretty and plenty of bars etc if you want them. Bus stop across the road from hotel takes you to Cuitadella, which was nice to visit. You can also get the express bus from Cuitadella to Mahon - 45 mins ride, but well worth it! Only gripe would be that the entertainment started a little too late for us (10pm). We did watch a show one evening, temptations take off....they were fantastic! I would give this hotel at least 9/10 rating! :-)
