Travelled during October school holidays on self-catering basis. Managed to secure a cheap deal. Accommodation excellent. Lovely apartment complete with flat screen tv. Reception staff very helpful (especially when I had to ask for assistance with ill child one evening). Unfortunately, it poured with rain 4 days out of 7 but as we had a car we were able to get out and about. Would stay again. Ciudadella and Mahon worth a visit.

We stayed on a self catering basis and also hired a car. As a recent reviewer highlighted, the Brits are heavily outnumbered by Germans but this didn't create any problems as far as we were concerned. The ladies who run the Kids Club speaks perfect English and all nationalities are welcomed. There is a brief kids/keep fit session around the pool each day which is all spoken over the PA system in german but otherwise we didn't feel left out. Our young kids found plenty of little friends by the pool which kept them happy.

The rooms are kept very clean and the reception staff are very helpful. No problem with sunbeds and a good playground for the little ones. We didn't make use of the evening entertainment but it looked a bit tame. Worth taking a kettle as boiling water on an electric ring is tiresome.

The location isn't great unless you have a car. If you do then Cuitadella is only 5 minutes away and provides a great evening venue with the waterside restaurants and market stalls. It has masses of charm and plenty of characterful streets to wander through. Cala 'n Bosch marina is also a lovely evening outing.

A good daytime venue is the Castell on the main road to Mahon, about 15 minutes out of Cuitadella. It is described as a shopping centre with a play area to keep the kids happy but, in reality, it is a great adventure park with a few shops tagged on. It is all FREE! It has a pool with a really good slide, trampolines, coin operated go-karts and boats, and loads of playground equipment. All they ask is that you buy a few ice-creams by way of a contribution to the upkeep. There is a proper go-kart circuit next door if you want some serious karting. If you get any poor weather, try the caves at Cala Morell on the north coast.

We didn't feel that the hotel had any particular wow factors but, if you have a car, it should provide a perfectly good base for a family pool/beach holiday with good access to other parts of the island.

my husband and i have stayed in the blanc palace on 4 occasions, the last being 4yrs ago. we took my mum and my sister along with us this time. we expected it to be pretty much the same but oh no the germans have taken over the property which is now all inclusive and each day a group of 6 KIDS arranged games,water excerises etc all announced in german over a loud speaker mind you not many of the germans took part we thought it was for there own entertainment!!!! the all inclusive bit has closed several resturants in the area. there is one small spar left so if you are going take some provisions with you eg tea coffee butter etc The place itself is very well kept and clean towels etc every day. we used it more of a base heading out every night to cala bosh and into cuitadella in the bus (it is only 5 euros in a taxi) we also headed to the beach at santandra every day to get away from the loud germans!!!!

We stayed at the Blanc Palace the last week of August, first week of September 2010. We enjoyed our stay, which was about relaxing and taking it easy. As other reviews have stated the hotel is in a quiet residential area and if you want hustle and bustle then it's not for you. There is a large pool - with lots of sun beds. There was easy access to the bar that provided both drinks and food. The restaurant got very busy and at times the buffet (hot and cold) was sparse and not replenished quickly enough. The staff were friendly but very busy - not enough waiting on staff.

The room was clean, big enough for us (family of 3), air conditioning was great and a T.V was in the room if needed. We stayed half board but had a fridge and cooking facilities in our room. The rooms were cleaned about 2-3 times over our 11 day stay.

We went out quite a lot to other resorts which are very close to each other and not far from Sa Caleta. A must is visiting Ciutadella, it is a very pretty town with the many restaurants along the port and the beautiful buildings and churches within the town. We went a couple of times and to be honest if we didn't have a young child (who didn't like walking!) we'd have gone a lot more.

The bus services are very frequent which takes away from the fact that you are not local to restaurants and shops. Cala Santandria was a short walk from the hotel, and had a lovely cove which was popular with both the locals and tourists.

For us the only down side was the hotel entertainment was poor especially when the choice of where else to go in the immediate area is limited. Most nights the entertainment room was empty by 10 pm.

On the first week the children's club was very busy and you had to queue to get your child's name down on the list. The second week was quiet and meant that our child was able to access the club a couple of times and she loved it. The reps were very friendly and helpful.

We found the resort very clean and friendly.
