“Wouldn't go back!”

We were at the Binimar for a week at the end of July which we booked as a late deal. We had always fancied trying Menorca after hearing how family friendly it is and with the Binimar being all inclusive we thought we would give it a go. Will give you the good bits first - you could not fault the pools at the hotel, our daughter loved them all and the childrens splash pool was fab, although the pouring water was a little harsh for little ones and did knock our little one of her feet which meant she was scared to go back on to slides and things. The hotel was only a short walk away from the main street which has lots of restaurants who all cater brilliantly for children, that is one thing they do fabulously in Cala'n Forcat! The reasons we wouldn't go back - No aircon (which granted we realised when we booked it, however what we didn't realise was that if you end up in a ground floor apartment the only ventilation is patio doors to the front and the back of the apartment, which we really wouldn't feel safe leaving open with the little one asleep in the apartment when we were sleeping, so we did had no ventilation at all - we all woke up feeling ill every morning). The apartments are very tired, the kitchen cupboards were all crooked where they had obviously been fixed too many times, the fridge door had rust which had just been painted over and the bathroom just smelt awful constantly, probably because of the lack of ventilation. The smell did get a little better when I asked at reception for the disgusting toilet brush to be removed but still did not go completely. The maids come in every other day - but only to change the towels and make the beds - and I really do mean only to make the beds, the sheets were not changed for the whole week despite the little one knocking into me and spilling coffee on them on our first morning, the coffee stained sheets remained for the full week!! They do not clean anything or sweep the floor and they did not even empty the kitchen bin for the whole week, so thankfully we had not been putting food in there!! Now for the All Inclusive - the food was often cool, was very repetitive and the choice on offer for children was really poor. I thought that they would at least have nice desserts for the children each evening but it was the same horrible cake or mousse type stuff every night and the fruit really didn't look the best some days. The drinks were always in horrible little plastic cups and the breakfast juices were disgusting. Also, they only time you could get ice cream for the children as part of the all inclusive was in the main restaurant, which you were not able to take out of there so if they wanted an ice cream by the pool you had to pay for it!!! We chose to eat outside of the hotel quite a few nights as we could not face the same cold food again and wanted to offer our daughter something that she would enjoy eating. Shame really when you pay extra to go all inclusive. So all in all, we enjoyed our family holiday as it is what you make it at the end of the day, but would we be going back to the Binimar.......no thanks!!!!!

“A great last minute holiday (self catering)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

I was unsure after reading reviews (which were actually from last summer), having booked last minute at the beginning of the kids school hols. We booked self catering and asked for a ground floor appt. which is what we were allocated . It was right outside the main pool which I really liked. The room was basic but clean, with all the stuff needed for s/c. The room was very clean and the lovely maids cleaned it every other day. There are at least 2 shops on the site where you can buy most of what you need and the prices are quite competitive with the few supermarkets close by. To keep the apartment cool, we had to open the big doors in the bedroom and the main doors in the living to allow the air to flow through. This is ok while someone is in the apartment but not at night (on the ground floor), not very secure. The ground floor apartments could do with having secure shutters like the 1st floor appts. There is no aircon, nor fans provided (but can be hired - Expensively!) so at night, the rooms get very hot. It was not too noisy most nights.
There are 3 pools on site, catering for everyone. A quiet pool at the back, a kids pool in the middle and the main bridged pool. Unfortunately the bridge was only open for the reps to use, and it was a pain walking all the way round it with many sunbeds, lilos, kids jumping in pool etc. blocking the way. There was entertainment every day at the main pool which was good & not too intrusive. The kids clubs, creche and daytime entertainment was very good too.
Unfortunately the food was not great, I'm pleased we didn't stay all-incl., the drinks seemed very poor too (for all-incl.) and very expensive if we bought the branded drinks (£10 for 2 whisky & cokes!). We ate out at the many restaurants in the main part of Calan Forcat at Los Delfinos, the food was good, reasonable with plenty of entertainment for kids & adults in the main squares.
Best bits: pools, activities, cleanliness, main resort.
Worst bits: too warm in room at night, poor food.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms best for airflow and keeping apartment cool. Best rooms face the pools, or at end of...

“Great for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

Just come back from a week at the Binimar. Our two boys, one aged six and the other four had a great time. We were self catering and found that to be the best, as all the restaurants we found were all family friendly and they all had something for the kids to play on. Pools were great, apartment clean. Only draw back was having to set alarm to get up for sunbeds! Will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view as rooms there are away from the main entertainment area

just got back from the binimar 2 adults and 2 kids 11,9 years of age and had a great time over there
room = 2 beds in bedroom,1 settee bed and 1 pull out bed under settee, bathroom was sound, kitchen didnt use it as we was all-in,,,we see a room as somewhere 2 wash an sleep so the room was great for us

food = main restaurant food was good, breakfast is the best ive had outside the uk,lunch time and dinner was ok but not loads of choice but what was there was really good and the staff in restaurant are great, the food you could get by the main bar for snacks was ok pizza, chips, hotdogs

swimming pools = 3 pools at the binimar, you had the main big pool which is where all the action happened and was really loud, little pool in middle had a little water park in it and the kids loved it,and the 3rd pool was great and we spent all our time here as the views over the sea was great aswell as the breeze coming of the med, only prob here was getting up for 6 in the morning for sunbeds with some shade

we had a really good family holiday at the binimar and the kids loved taking part in all the activitys what was on offer, its a great place for young kids but i think teenagers will be bored here as there nowt on offer for them

if anyone is worried about going there dont be as its a good place to holiday

Room Tip: seaview as u get a good breeze of the med

“EXCELLENT FAMILY HOLIDAY, DONT BE PUT OFF BY BAD REVIEWS!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

Having arrived back home yesterday with my partner and 3yr old daughter after 1wk all inclusive stay, i feel i should share an honest account of a fabulous holiday.
First off, our room was ground floor beside the kids club, rooms were very clean with maid service every other day, basic yes but everything we needed including kettle toaster fridge, a balcony to front and rear or apartment, like someone else said there is a 4th bed under the sofa like the majority of other apartments ive stayed (but no it wasnt that uncomfortable or back breaking you cant sleep for a wk)
There is no option of air con which concerned us but turned out it wasnt needed, you can hire a fan from reception (if you walk accross the road the supermarket hires fans for half the price)
Hotel Bar staff were all friendly bar one, we had a few good laughs with them. Reception staff were friendly enough also spoke good english
Food now, im a fussy eater and some nights was spoilt for choice, mexican night, chinese night, salads fish etc reading other reviews i fail to understand what these people are looking for or just how fussy they must be?
Pools were fantastic esp for kids with a new splash play area with slides etc, 2 other main pools and a kids paddling pool, yes there were kids splashing (as they do) yes there was noise (as what you would expect) yes there is a chance youl get wet with a soaker (its a family resort with kids having fun on their holidays) sunloungers, most put towels down 6am then dont lie on them all day, after watching beds lie empty for hours i folded the towels off and put our own on them, didnt please a few but it wasnt fair on everyone else what was happening.
Entertainment now, the team worked hard to put on good shows, as well as daytime poolside entertainment, my daughter loved the kidsworld club the staff there were v nice and great with the kids, the choc party and bday bash seemed v good fun, dizzy and shades went down well too!
I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of bars/resturaunts/shops etc on our doorstep, most with kids play areas free of charge which we found great.
Pirates cove is about a 25min walk away and well worth a visit what a beautiful place and again plently to keep kids amused.
The only downside for us was that were only there 1 week and not 2!, menorca is a beautiful island and im looking forward to going back again.
Please dont let these moaners who expect 5* when they havent paid 5* prices put you off!
