“Disgraceful and dishonest !”

We often eat on the beautiful terrace at the Azul Playa. The restaurant service and food are wonderful. May 26 was my wifes birthday and we decided to celebrate with a one night stay . i went the week before and met the manager. I chose room 107 as this has the largest terrace overlooking the sea. To avoid disappointment I paid in full and in advance and stipulated the precise room. We arrived yesterday and were immediately greeted and taken to our room. The room was incorrect with a small terrace. I went to reception to seek explanation. I was told our original room 107 had a broken shower. I said we would still take 107 as we wanted the big terrace with 2 sunbeds. The receptionist now changed her story and informed us room 107 was in working order but given to another guest even though we had paid in full a week earlier ! We asked for our money back and refused to check in. Finally the manager re appeared and said the room would be given to us .We had to wait over an hour to have him rectify this blatant pack of lies. In addition the safe and T.V. did not work. i would rather sleep on the beach than stay here again !

“Stay away!”

We booked this hotel for 3 reasons: Its location on the beach, free internet all over the hotel and airconditioned rooms. The only positive experience was the location. The hotels airconditioning is absolutely not working and the staff was not interested in fixing it. We told them from day one about the problem, but the famous spanish "manjana" seemed to be their solution. We had room a room with sea view, but this was also on the "sunny side" which meant that the room would warm up to about 50 degrees celcius, and thus almost unbearable to stay in, also during the night. We had to keep the windows open, but not even that helped, as no air came through. The airport is also very close, with airplanes taking off/landing every 2 minutes and the noise was extreme.
For five days we stayed, and every day the staff told us they would fix the problem, but nothing happened. They told us they had a problem in all rooms. As for the free internet this was not true. No internet in the rooms at all. It is also claimed that all rooms have a balcony, but only the rooms on the first floor have. All in all a very bad experience. We noticed on our final day that some other guests also left in anger and the guest book has listings like" my first and LAST stay at this hotel"

“Excellent location”

Azul Playa is a small and friendly hotel located in Ciutat Jardin, just outside lovely Palma.

Walking to Palma takes about 45minutes - along the beach. The bus takes about 20 minutes and a taxi 10 minutes.

The location is without doubt the hotels biggest advantage. The hotel is on the beach - only separated by a narrow road with almost no cars.

The hotels terrace has view of the beach and you can also see the very famous cathedral of Palma when eating breakfast or having lunch.

The hotel offers free beachtowels and on the beach you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach is nice - with mainly spanish tourists and locals. Perfect!

The breakfast-menu is good. You choose between several different types - croissant, toast, eggs, bacon, baguettes, fruit. The coffee is very good and so is the freshsqueezed orangejuice.

All the members of staff are very, very friendly.

The rooms are very small. There is a comfy doublebed, a tv, a safe and a minibar. And the private terraces are quite big - so it doesn't feel that small if you use your terrace. An advice: be aware that the "view" in the "mountain view"-rooms is not really much of a view... If you want to stay at this hotel - you will regret if you don't choose a seaview-room.

Unfortunately the bathrooms may smell a bit of sewage when its very windy outside.

An advice to the hotel: since the washbasin is not in bathroom but in the mainroom, why not provide handsoap, a hook with a small towel and some glasses for the toothbrushes? Pretty annoying when its missing - and very easy to fix!

We loved the small harbour called Portixol - 20 minutes walking along the beach from the hotel. Lovely restaurants: especially Bar.co (this one is excellent!) and Sa roqueta! Actually we went here every night - except from two nights eating in Palma.

Anyway, we would definitely stay here again. Mainly because:
*Nice price
*Its setting right at the beach
*Quiet area
*The nearby topclass restaurants in Portixol and not to far from lovely Palma.
*Mainly locals on the beach

“Azul Playa: Colorful and comfortable hotel right on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

Azul Playa is a small hotel right on the beach. We had to book a hotel very quickly and not only was the staff very helpful but the prices were relatively inexpensive. We were staying in a Sea View room, and though small it was also comfortable and had a large, floor-to-ceiling window/balcony with a beautiful and uninterrupted view of the horizon. A sizable television (with radio channels if you just want to listen to music) also occupied a corner of the room. We enjoyed two decent meals and several delicious drinks on the spacious outdoor terrace overlooking the Bay of Palma, and various other bars and eateries are just a short walk away. Right across from this terrace is the beach, where for 4 euro a person you can rent beds and tiki-style umbrellas - the hotel provides you with free towels. Just a short wander either to the left or the right takes you along the shore which features various smaller beaches that you can relax at. Both the water and the sand are beautiful, as long as they’ve cleaned up the beach. (For the couple days we were there, there was a considerable amount of trash along the shore. Of course, they day we leave is the day they clean it all up.) Our favorite part of the hotel, however, was the rooftop deck - featuring a 360 degree view including the whole of the bay as is visible from there. Though it’s unadvertised, just take the elevator up to the third floor and you’ll find a great photo op. On the whole a quirky, fun hotel whose vicinity to the beach is very convenient. The shower tends to leak on the bathroom floor - but this happened at a few hotels in Mallorca so its not uncommon I guess

“Simply amazing!”

The hotel is located in a residential area just 10 minutes by bus (Bus nº 15) from Palma city center. The airport is very near as well.

We were welcomed by a team of friendly staff members who were very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is ideally located right in front of the quiet and relaxing beach. Its blue exterior is very hard to miss! There are numerous restaurants nearby as well that serve scrumptious dishes. MUST---> Wasabi BLUE and FUSION restaurants! We couldn't help but come back for seconds!

There was a tad bit of trouble with the room's air conditioning but the cool breeze at night and the fresh sea wind made up for it. Since the hotel is a boutique hotel, it was rather small but cozy. The manager Jose along with his team, Nadia and others were very friendly and helpful especially with suggestions of where to go, what to do, bike rentals (you can rent a bike from the reception at the cost of about EUR12 plus EUR5 for transport fee). There was an outside terrace where they served breakfast and some all-day dishes. The drinks and food were fairly priced as opposed to what other hotels charge. A few meters down the main road, you will find EROSKI and LIDL to shop for some basic to food needs. Nearby as well was a restaurant called FUJIYAMA which was all you can eat Japanese-Chinese food in little platters paraded on conveyor belts. It was amazing and for the mere price of about EUR10 per person, its a definite find!

I especially enjoyed the bike paths that lead all the way up to Palma. A mere bike ride away from Palma, this bike route is breathtaking and just simply relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay in this very clean hotel. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit!
