The Hotel Born sparked my interest because it's a former Ducal Palace and it looked conveniently located in the old city walking distance to most of the places I wanted to go. The hotel itself is perfectly located for roaming around the old city, with restaurants and shops right out the door, and all the main attractions within a 5 to 10 min walk, including the train to Soller.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and plain, with very nice bathrooms, but the tvs leave a lot to be desired - they're tiny, and the rooms are huge and they're usually on the other side of the room from you, and in most rooms you don't have wifi - unless you're lucky enough to be across the courtyard from the room that has the computers, then you get wifi. However, most of the rooms face the courtyard, which in nice weather is where breakfast is - it can get very, very noisy and echos horribly, so don't expect to sleep in.
The real problem with Hotel Born is the stairs to get to the rooms... with you trudging your own luggage up and down them. The first flight of stairs is a huge 2 story sweeping staircase with no real banister, followed by 2 more flights up, and 1 flight down to get to my room. There was absolutely no offer of assistance getting your luggage to your room, or back down. You need to be in really good shape to stay here, or backpacking. There's also no place to securely lock up your laptop, there are small lock boxes available in reception but they're the size you'd put a passport and plane tickets in.
