“Friendly staff, good location, perfect for short stay”

I booked a triple room at this hotel for myself and two other girlfriends. First off the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly and seemed like they really enjoyed dealing with guests. The hotel was easy to reach from the sirport - took the no 1 bus to placa espanya then switched to no 3 which stops only a 2 min walk from the hotel. If you don't have many bags you can take the no 1 all the way to porto pi and should only take about 30 mins. I wanted a relaxing break, therefore did not want to have a hotel in the city. Mirablau was good value for money - plus had a good sized, clean swimming pool that was great for relaxing around after a day in Palma or at the beach.

The hotel room itself had an amazing view - we were on the 6th floor where you can see the pool below as well as the port and the sea. Regarding the 'thin walls' in other reviews - yes the walls were thin and you could hear talking in the other rooms - but during a short stay it didn;t bother me too much. At least there was air conditioning you could control! The beach Cala Major is less than a 10 minute walk away and is a small beach but the sand was lovely and the water just what you want for the Med. There is also a little cave you can stand under to get some shade if you're sensitive to the sun like me. We had breakfast at the hotel - which was worth it as it's a buffet with a variety of meats, cheese, bread, cake, yogurt, eggs, coffee and juices.

A couple times we walked down the road for a coffee and pastery but you're paying just as much for way less food. The Paradiso restaurant just down the road was amazing - great view and supurb food. I really enjoyed my stay - it was excellent value and would stay again.

Room Tip: The higher you are the better the view

“Thin walls!!!!”

Staff friendly and helpful, rooms lovely and clean, good value hotel close to palma.
Could not fault it....but the only problem comes if you actually want to sleep!!!, the first night was fine though we had had a few drinks before going to bed and had walked and drove a lot that day....
Though the second night....you felt you were with the people next door. I wish I had of taken a more detailed dictionary as I feel my husband could have learnt a lot from the man nextdoor....So when you read a review that says the walls are thin....believe them they are!!....but other than that can not fault the hotel and staff.

“I enjoyed it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

It's not in the center of Palma but I really enjoyed it. Bus number 3 takes you all the way to the center.
Great A/c comfy bed. No complaints.

“Mirablau Hotel (formerly The Zenith) Room for improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

I stayed at this hotel in May as a surprise birthday treat for my father-in-law.

Originally we were travelling to Barcelona - but sadly our flight was cancelled due to the Volcanic ash, so we ended up in Majorca instead. Our hotel was booked via the internet at airport whilst waiting for our flight to board.

First impressions were ok - but a bit disappointing especially in comparison to the hotel we had booked for our original destination, however the hotel reception and front seemed clean and welcoming. 'Ollie' the duty manager that evening was VERY helpful and welcoming.

The room was small on first entry and very dark. It had a small ensuite bathroom (with HUGE sink which jutted over the wc for some reason). We had booked 2 double rooms but ended up with two twins. The room itself was very clean and fresh.

Be aware! the bedrooms are not sound proof and you can hear guests in the next room just even having a conversation. It's not very private or quiet. The noise from people in other rooms flushing toilets or using showers or even just opening drawers was very intrusive.

Satellite tv was advertised but in reality the only english speaking channel was BBC world news. The Mini bar required a key to open which we still never received. There were safes in each room which required credit cards to activate (no charge we have been promised).

The pool area is very nice and clean. Although it was very quiet when we stayed and we were the only guests who used it.

The hotel in is in quiet residential area. Very few staff were on duty and at times it felt like we were the only guests who were staying in the hotel.

We were advised that the hotel has changed hands and refurbishments have been made - but looking at the information shown on comparison sites when under it's previous name it doesn't look like very much has been altered.

Reception staff (apart from Ollie) were very sombre and not the most helpful. Think this was in part due to their limited command of English. They wery slow to serve drinks, teas or coffees and indeed seemed unable to graspe the concept of customer service at times. They were also very slow to clean up after guests, cups/ glasses/ash trays left in the same place sometimes for over a day.
Heaven only knows how they will cope when the hotel is busy in the height of summer if they can't clean up after 4 guests! We in fact helped them by returning debris and used dishes to the bar area but they still didn't wipe tables or clean ash trays.

Quite disappointing as this has potential to be a nice quiet hotel say perhaps for older visitors but not for anyone looking for a bit of life or atmosphere.

We didn't take up the offer to have breakfast preferring instead to venture out and see what was on offer elsewhere.

We took bus in to Palma a few times which stopped a very short walk from the hotel and took approx 15/20 mins and only around 1.25 Euro each way. Also handy to jump on a bus to Palma Nova, Magaluf or Santa Ponca if desired.

Would suggest that this hotel would be best for those people who want a basic base to use to explore other parts of Majorca. Next time I think we would prefer to stay in Palma centre itself. Much more going on and more to choose in terms of hotels, retaurants, bars and lovely shops. Cala Major is a very quiet resort.

“Above Average for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2009

I found the Hotel Zenith to be clean and the staff mostly friendly and helpful. The hotel is probably not suitable for the disabled as it is on a hill, it is a good 10-15 minute walk down to cala mayor.
The food was nicely presented and a good selection, The room had free air con which was a huge plus and also free safe deposit box, although you had to use a credit card to activate it, which seemed a little worrying in these days of ID theft etc, although I still did it, so i can't have been that concerned.

I didn't actually rate the resort of cala mayor that much, but seeing as we were there just for some sun and relaxation it didn't really matter.
I thought the pool area was lovely and the pool nice and clean, plenty of sunbeds. the hotel however was far from full despite it being July.

The beach gets really crowded and sunbeds cost 4.60 Euros for a day which I think is extortionate....maybe thats me, but if you were a family of 4 that would make the day out very expensive before you started on drinks etc.
There is no entertainment in the hotel and I really think they should vary the CDs a bit, as it was driving us mad hearing the same songs over and over.
All in all a good hotel for the price. The only complaint was our wake up call on our morning of departure was 15 minutes late, but luckily we set our phones aswell, so didn't oversleep.
