“Wonderful location, wonderful hotel”

stayed here last september after discovering cala san vicente on a previous trip..

the hotel was wonderful.. brilliant, helpful staff,

amazing location... lovely sea view rooms

the breakfast was nice but a little german orientated (the hotel caters mainly for a german tour operator from what i gathered)
we stayed for an evening meal once too and that was also Very nice!

this year we are going to book half board as it doesnt cost much more..

the only downside was that the beds where a little on the hard side..

loved it that much we are going back again this year!

“Rough start, but a happy ending”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We arrived a bit late in the day and our reservation had been misplaced. The hotel was effectively booked up, so the only choice was to give us a room that is so poor that it's usually not used. The room was just above the street and offered a less-than-beautiful view of a large concrete retaining wall. However, the next day (upon asking) we were moved to a sea-view room and from that point forward the visit was essentially perfect. The location is stupendous with a beautiful sea and wide, uncrowded beach. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The price was very reasonable. I would strongly recommend taking a sea-view room, if the choice is offered.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view. If not, absolutely avoid the first floor.

“Superb family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

I am writing this as there is a bum review on this site that might put you off. There are two Grupotels in this cove, and the 4 star Cala San Vicente is top notch. I dont know about the other apartment one.

Great views. Great food. Good facilities. Friendly staff. A good local hire car company to get to San Antonio or waterparks. I would not hesitate to recommend this place for a family holiday.

One tip, the waves look small, but pack quite a punch!!!!

Very different weeks btw. Week one very German, forget getting a sunbed as they are selfishly reserved in the mornings by towels - which is against the rules. Second week, more cosmopolitan, and getting a sunbed no issue. Must say though, you are in the pool, or the bar, and the sunbeds are for sun worshippers only - not really my family.

Enjoy it, and dont worry about that review.

only downside, the bed was a little unforgiving, and the pillow small.

Room Tip: as far as i could see all rooms had a sea view, but we had a jnr suite and they all do

“If you want noise football shirts and shell suits, its not for you.”

There was a problem with the rooms we had booked in Portinax so we were offered this hotel in the quiet resort of Cala san Vincente. Grupotel has 2 next to each other a 3 and a 4 star hotel, some of the photographs on tripadvisor and I am sure some of the reviews belong to the hotel next door.
It is very quiet but we were there to relax not hit the clubs. I cannot fault our stay, from getting out of the taxi, the receptionists were very helpful especially Jose. The dining room staff were attentive the bar staff Pedro Toni and Ana were fantastic.
The rooms were cleaned daily the whole place was kept spotless. The choice in the buffet meals was huge something for everyone and a lot cooked in front of you to your liking.
We were the only English couple there until later in the week when 3 other couples were given the upgrade.
Get up at 6.30 if you want a sunbed.
The beach is cleaned daily. Only 3 shops and a handful of bars.

“Rubbish, waste of my time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2010

When it comes to holidays this is the epitome of a waste of my time.
For starters, when we arrived at the signature 4.8 stars hotel (Grupotel Cala san Vicente) we thought, what a marvellous work of art for such a bargain, we are amazed.
Until you walk through the front door, it was barren absolutely nobody with in a five mile radius of the place.

After about 20 minutes standing the cold, the manager came into the viewing spectrum…. With his pyjamas strapped around his skinny rib cage.
When we arrived at the door of our room their was a distinct smell of potent droppings to our surprise we opened the door only to find some smelly cat cushioned upon our tatty bed sheets, the cat has grease spewing from every hair.
So we again stormed to the desk demanding to change rooms but have a guess what… there was nobody their.

We eventually were immediately moved to the elegant on sweet with a mini bar and a vending machine.. We were delighted.
When we went outside we were greeted by the most hideous creature you could ever see.
I cannot describe this image because this is a family website.

Onwards I go towards the ever growing danger of criminal:

I went out to the buffet located in the luxury dining area, to get some breakfast even though I am 25 this was not suitable for even my easy to please children.
The buffet included a mixture of raw eel soup, cornflakes and a pitiful excuse for an English brunch.
When I swiftly glided to my master bedroom I noticed my door was partially open so I walked with caution to the door only to find silence, but I hastily role called my personal items such as my makeup, hair dryer, passport and various items.
As I recalled my valuables I suddenly noticed “where is my passport” as you can imagine I once again rushed to the front desk, the manger was informed by the police to check the CCTV but sadly they could not identify the criminal.
None the less I am still in Ibiza enjoying the rest of my vacation from hell.

p.s don’t go unless for an idiot
