“Having a smoked breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

I find unbeliable that I need to complain about Hotel customers smoking at 9 in the morning in the restaurant at breakfast (24 October 2010). The table was situated in the middle of the room, with a group of 5 people, 3 of them smoking . Even more shocking that any of the Hotel employees said a word. Spain, still in the third world... but who cares? (btw, I have Spanish nationality).

“Very Brief, But Good, Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2010

I stayed at the Gran Hotel Lakua one Friday night, from 11pm to 8am, on my way back driving from Portugal to France. In that context, the hotel's location near the main highway (1km) was a plus as I did not need to enter the city, but it would probably be a negative for those planning to visit the city as tourists. The hotel was easy to find and the inside parking was clean, well-lit and had a lot of nice large empty spaces. As I was arriving late and leaving early I particularly appreciated the fact that the reception and the room service were truly working in 24 hour mode; contacting either felt like one was in the middle of the day, not in the middle of the night. Rooms are nice and large, but the working desk has an awkward shelf that blocks the screen of one's laptop. Not the end of the world, but clearly not designed by someone who has a laptop. The internet was free and was fast. Paid 89 Euros for a "Habitación Doble Superior" plus 13 Euros for breakfast. As a stopover hotel this was very convenient.

“isolated luxury”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2008

This 5 star hotel can be booked on week-ends at very low
prices. Beautiful, modern contemporary design with super luxurious bathroom.
The hitch is that this hotel is located far from town within a seemingly new residential area without restaurants or cafes that we could find. It is right on the exit/entrance to the motorway.
If you'r looking for a very comfortable accomodation on a week-end near the road.... and nothing else : this is it.

“Good but not enough”

Nice and clean (although not very big) rooms and VERY GOOD restaurant, however there something I hated. Every room is connected with other by an internal door and you can hear EVERYTHING from your neighbour what makes it very unconfortable.
