My husband and I stayed here for two nights in July 2007. This is a small hotel in the very heart of Vitoria and has an excellent location right at the heart of the night time buzz which centres around eating tapas (pintxos) and chatting with friends. The atmospohere is very sophisticated and not at all rowdy with a noticeably older crowd mingling on the streets and around various bars and cafes.
The hotel rooms are small but comfortable and spotlessly clean, the decor is unusual and very floral but quite quirky, they seem to be going for an art deco feel. The reception staff are friendly and helpful and had a reasonalble amount of english if needed.
The bathroom was again spotlessly clean and had a (very) small bath with shower attachment which surprisingly turned out to be just as good as a power shower!
The hotel does not have a lift, so if you have a lot of bulky bags you may have to do a number of runs to the upstairs reception desk. There is no air conditioning but this did not bother us as there are shutters on the windows which can be lowered during the day to keep the room cool.
The hotel is located on one of the main streets with good shops and great cafes and bars, it is only a five minute walk to the train station. The bus station is further away but walkable if you don't mind hilly streets with luggage to carry!
The hotel website is a good place to check this place out and is accurate. We found it to be very good value for money, (about 48 euro per room per night).
Overall this is a great little base for a stay in Vitoria which in itself has enough to keep you occupied for a weekend if you like good food, good wine and a late night cafe bar atmosphere after dark. The modern art gallery is worth a visit and has a nice cafe attached.
A word of advice to non-Spanish speakers, buy a dictionary and carry it with you as this town is not a major tourist resort and has a limited amount of english speakers, people are very friendly and helpful though!
