“Great location, good hotel, showing some age”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This remains our primary hotel when visiting Vitoria (we come here 5-6 times a year) - easy walking distance from the town center, reliable Silken service, excellent breakfast, decent pricing, comfortable rooms. But as is so often the case, maintenance is a little lacking. Window curtains were grey with dust, woodwork worn in the lobby and elsewhere. Small things that prevent us from giving this 5 stars. Having said that, it is still the best place to stay in this very charming capital of the Basque Country.

“Great hotel”

We go to Vitoria every year to visit friends and always stay here, some of the staff remember us!
Don't worry if your Spanish is a bit rusty, the reception staff speak English. The rooms are well appointed and modern, breakfast is good, but expensive, the bar is a great place, but is also expensive. There is an underground carpark which is great as there isn't a lot of street parking nearby, we'll be going back

Room Tip: Choose the executive floor

“Surprisingly excellent dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

My wife and I stayed here for one night whilst travelling home from Southern Spain. We were tired after a very long drive and decided to forego a more prestigious restaurant, of which there are several in Vitoria, to eat in the hotel dining room. Imagine our surprise when we were treated to as good a meal as we had eaten anywhere during the previous four weeks. It comprised local dishes, the staff who were very friendly and helpful did not speak English, but delivered truly delicious food. The best was the local dessert which was small but with a wonderful flavour. All of this including a bottle of house wine cost a mere €19 each! The breakfast was very good indeed as was the accommodation. All in all, an excellent stay at a very reasonable price. Additionally, a secure garage is located under the hotel which when travelling with a loaded car is important.

“A very pleasant stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

I stayed one night at Silken Hotel Ciudad de Vitoria with my boyfriend in August 2011. Our primary reason for visiting Vitoria was to dine at Zaldiaran, Vitoria’s 1-starred Michelin restaurant (fabulous and not-expensive 10-course tasting menu – my warmest recommendations!) and we hadn’t expected much of the town itself. But Vitoria turned out to be a nice little gem – and so did Silken Hotel!

This is a god quality, 4-starred hotel offering nice, quiet and well-equipped rooms in a good, central location. The staff in the reception was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. I think we paid around 60-65 Euros for the double room, and with that in mind I would definitely say that Silken offers some an exceptional quality in that price range!

“A genuine 4 star hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

......which is hard to find in Europe - most European 4* hotels would struggle to get 3 stars in Asia. This hotel thoroughly desreves its rating.
From the friendly checkin (good English), the good sized room, the facilities and appointments in the room, and the general service level, I can only praise the establishment - and the room rate was very good
I wish I could have stayed longer
