I stayed one night at Silken Hotel Ciudad de Vitoria with my boyfriend in August 2011. Our primary reason for visiting Vitoria was to dine at Zaldiaran, Vitoria’s 1-starred Michelin restaurant (fabulous and not-expensive 10-course tasting menu – my warmest recommendations!) and we hadn’t expected much of the town itself. But Vitoria turned out to be a nice little gem – and so did Silken Hotel!

This is a god quality, 4-starred hotel offering nice, quiet and well-equipped rooms in a good, central location. The staff in the reception was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. I think we paid around 60-65 Euros for the double room, and with that in mind I would definitely say that Silken offers some an exceptional quality in that price range!

......which is hard to find in Europe - most European 4* hotels would struggle to get 3 stars in Asia. This hotel thoroughly desreves its rating.
From the friendly checkin (good English), the good sized room, the facilities and appointments in the room, and the general service level, I can only praise the establishment - and the room rate was very good
I wish I could have stayed longer

We stayed 2 nights at Cuidad Vitoria. The hotel is just a short walk from the cent6re of town. The girls on reception both spoke English and were extremely helpful. We ate breakfast here each day as the breakfast buffet is very reasonable (16Euro) and the choice of hot and cold foods will keep you going most of the day. This seems to be the norm in Spain so breakfast is a good time to eat a hearty meal as dinner is served very late (after 9pm) The rooms were smart, clean and the bed very comfortable. Despite being sandwiched between two roads the rooms were quiet. There are many good restaurants within a short wlak in the centrte of the town around the two park areas. Most eveneiing the locals were out strolling through the city and parks and we enjoyed lots of wine at the local cafe's where a glass is less than 1euro.

The hotel is not a bad one although there are much better options. The covered patio in the midlle makes it very noise if ther is an event as was the case during our stay. But what is horrible in this place is the computers system they use and how the staff handle the incidences. Just some examples. The first, we made the reservation by internet. Afterwards, for security reasons, we had to change the credit card used. We called the hotel to change the credit card number. Answer: it is impossible. So what?.
Second, when we were ckeking out they had a problem with the computer so they told us to repeat the transacction and that the credit card charge has been cancelled. False. Now we are trying the get the reimboursement of a charge which was duplicate. Third, back home when we noticed the duplicate charge we send then a mail explaining the situation. No answer until today. But was is worst is that when after several days we called them nothing have been done to check the problem and to solve it. And fourth, after the stay we received a mail in order to fill a satisfaction survey. Hoop! When we cliked in the arrow of the mail we got a blank window. Is not enough for a short stay?
