“Pleasant stay in a quiet location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

As a number of reviews suggest this is a nice hotel within a quieter location of San Sebastian. The hotel rooms are comfortable and no frills. It is only 5 mins walk to the nearest (and quieter) of beaches. To get to the old town is about a 30 minute walk, which was quite nice to walk off dinner or lunch, but you are definitely not in the action of the old town. Don't bother parking at the hotel, the staff will direct you to a cheaper car park within about a 2 min walk of the hotel.

“Non-thrill hotel and below average experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

How can a four-star hotel in a destination like San Sebastian be so boring. The frame is good, a lot of space in the lobby, corridors and rooms. The modern furnishing does not match at all to the dark and wooden doors of the rooms.

A bigger problem for a business traveller is the lack of services in the hotel and some kind of ignorance among the front office staff. No gym nor swimming pool, and when I asked about gyms close by, one receptionist told me that there is none, and next morning another that they are all closed. Ok, they were all friendly, and perhaps I did not communicate properly.

The worst detail during my stay was the price of the WiFi -connection in the rooms. Almost 18 euros per 24 hours. This is pure robbery! There is a free WiFi in the lobby, but a lively lobby for working does not sound very tempting.

How I missed Silken Amara Plaza in the same town!

“Incredible wrong aspects”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

In few words I would say that in this hotel things related to hardware are OK but the software is very bad.
This means that all aspects related with phisical and structural items like buiding, local, rooms , decoration are well, on the contrary all aspects where the organization and human action is more important it is very bad.
We were 2 couples and we made our booking about 2 months earlier with a non refundable rate.
When we arrive we wait 35 minutes for check in because they didn't find it in system !!!
When we made the check in we received a booklet where was written that breakfast was till 11.00 a.m. The second day we enter in restaurant about 10.32 and we were told that the breakfast was till 10.30. We show to the manager the little booklet and he said: the papaer is wrong!!!Only after to protest we ate.
It is also incredible that in a town where is usual to have dine after 9.00p.m. to close the bar at 11.30.p.m.
Surprising too the fact that about 6.00 p.m. is is impossible to eat a sinple sandwich.

“Very positive experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

Quite an expensive place but had camped all thru France and this was 2 nights of luxury at the end of the trip. Road was noisy but AC was effective and windows well sound proofed. Staff very welcoming and talked (in English) thru bus routes, taxi prices, attractions, directions to old town etc. This place is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and about 30 minutes on foot to the old town which is worth a visit. Breakfast was terrific, lots of choice, and quite healthy. Room was very comfortable, TV had 2 English news channels, Russia today and CNN. Underground parking was essential as had bikes and camping gear in car, but it did cost an additional 16 Euros.Cant fault the hotel or San Sebastian in general really. Make sure you try the Tapas bars in the old town, great Octopus!

“Very businesslike, not near old town.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

I stayed here for 3 days in mid July. There is a GREAT Jazz Festival each year at the end of July that I just missed. If possible, try to make it for that! The hotel is situated near Playa Ondoretta which is the quieter side of San Sebastian. The beach is within walking distance. The center of town and Old Town San Sebastian (which is where you want to be for Tapas!) is a 30 minute walk. I recommend doing the walk along the beach at least once. After that you can easily catch the 5 or 25 bus for 1.40 euros which will take you much faster! The hotel is well kept and the staff are very nice. There's secure parking for a daily fee below ground. Most all the people staying the hotel are there on business so not much fun if you're looking for a group atmosphere. The room is clean, but somewhat dated. There is a nice breakfast that IS NOT included. I had to let the front desk know I only ate there once so they did not charge for both days. Internet has a fee and can be purchased in 24 hour increments for 10 euros. It works well and if you need it, it's worth it. You must ask at the front desk and they will give you an access code. It was a nice stay. I would like to stay closer to the old town area next time.
