We lodged with Amara Plaza during our trip in December. It was moderately priced hotel, spacious wih comfortable bed and nicely decorated rooms. The hotel staff spoke fluent English and we found them very helpful with recommended tips on place to dine. The hotel is conveniently located to the bus terminal (for those transiting via bus into San Sebastian), however, slightly outside the city centre. That being said, San Sebastian is a relatively nice small town that is easily reachable by foot.

San Sebastian is reknown for its good quality gourmet food and the hotel food is no exception. There is a large selection of spread on offer, including local delight/produce and warm dishes (eg, bacon, sausage - nice surprise for those craving for the good ole american breakfast).

Overall, we found Amara Plaza a pleasant and comfortable stay.

I stayed at Amara Plaza this october. To my surprise, very moderately priced property offers strong 4 star service. Rooms are of good size, beds are nice to sleep in. Despite bus station located adjacent to the building, I had no trouble sleeping there. Actually getting there from Bilbao airport is a breeze since the bus comes directly to the hotel door. I also liked conference facilities since arrived there for corporate event. Overall tidy, spacious, well kept. Will stay there again. One minus was their restaurant. Very average, especially for city so famous for local cuisine.

We stayed at the Silken Amara due to our cancelling a booking at another hotel due to building works. The reception area is light and airy and our booking-in was painless and efficient. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed and a good selection of toiletries were available. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not available due to the season (November) and the room was realy quite warm. We tried opening the window but the noise from the bus station below made it impossible to keep it open. Returning from dinner in the old - town, which is 10 minutes by taxi, we enjoyed a reasonably priced coffee and brandy in the Hotel's comfortable Piano Bar. We opted for the Cafeteria breakfast which was excellent and reasonably priced. We thought the overnight parking charge of 15 Euros expensive.

Good hotel, only 10 minutes away from city center. Lacks some glamour, but staff is freindly and rooms are very clean and comforteable. We stayed for a weekend and certainly everything was fine. They even allowed us for late check-out, as we were coming back from a running event. Good breakfast as well, I would only miss a fitness hall.
