I stayed in an en suite double room. The heating worked well but we had to turn it on ourselves on arrival. The beds were comfortable.

Bathroom was clean and nice.

The central location allowed to explore the old town without ever worrying that we'll have to walk a long way back :)

The lift wasn't working and the room had a musky smell so we were not too impressed. The area is not good and there were local youths in groups standing in doorways late at night.

We had to book this place because they accept dogs (not that easy to find) but it's only suitable for a one night stop.

Bilbao, rather surprisingly, is a very expensive city to visit. Hostel Don Claudio is actually a bit between a hotel and a hostel--private rooms and baths are available.

Most importantly, the place is very clean--although difficult to notice from the outside as it's situated in a building with other apartments and perhaps offices. Also of note, it is NOT accessable via the metro, but EASILY accessable via the train. Only a few steps from the train stop.

Also, the people who run the place are very pleasant. Not much English spoken, however.
