“Closest to Guggenheim. Highly Recommended.”

I stayed here in October, and had a very enjoyable stay, perhaps because it was slightly 'off season' so not too busy. The first thing I noticed was the fountain decorated with crockery and a fallic-like stone pillar centre-piece, quirky furniture and cool graphic paintings, which make it pleasant environment. It's main selling point is convenience. It's very easy to get to from the airport. Take the airport bus and get off at the first stop. It only a 100 metres walk to the back door. It's a stone's throw to the Guggenheim - just across the street, so this hotel is definitely the closest you can get. We had a lovely breakfast on the roof terrace with nice views of the Guggenheim. The room we had had no view, but we didn't mind as it was very clean and comfortable. I'd recommend if you only have a short time in Bilbao, to stay here, as you have the two main art galleries close by, plus the tram stop and bus stop very close too. It's a 15 min walk to the old town. The bar on the ground floor had live music on Friday and Saturday night. There is even a very small sauna.

“Pretty much all a traveler could wish for”

Clean, comfortable, friendly, spacious, central location. This is one of these hotels that make the hotel business look so easy, while it is so difficult. There was helpful staff behind the reception, in the bar, in the restaurants and for cleaning. The only thing I can imagine is, that when being here in the summer, a pool would be a nice addition. Other than that: a true gem.

“lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This is also known as the "Silken Domine" The hotel is really near the first bus stop from the airport so easy to get to. It is central. The rooftop terrace was fab -overlooking the guggenheim. They have the weekend english papers there. The breakfast was expensive but very good. They iron the crisp white tablecloths for dinner (that is very tasty) and the waiters are very attentive.. but so they should be for the money! It is worth it though. The service in the hotel was very good overall. There is a room where you can use the computers ( business centre) There was a good live band on downsairs in the bar. Drinks weren't the cheapest though you do get a bowl of nuts nibbles with them and the glasses are novel. The rooms are big and have a nice bathroom with a bath. The smellies are a bit odd: you get a big box of goodies but they have bathsalts and aftershave that smell a bit cheap! The beds are big and comfy. There is a nice little sauna on the roof but the "treatment room is cordened off in the middle of the gym and you can hear everyone working out, so I don't imagine that would be too relaxing...I didn't have a spa treatment there, so i don't really know. The cleaning staff fold down the bed and put a wee choccie and a toy on the pillow, which is a nice touch. There is a bizzare phallic sculpture in the foyer and a fountain with cups and saucers on it.. art I suppose! Overall I recommend this hotel as a nice one for a bigger budget.. look out for deals online!

“Friendly Staff, Vibrant Facilities, Stellar Location”

Even the gray clouds, damp cold and off and on rain showers of late January/early February couldn't quash the warmth and liveliness of this smart, comfortable and modern boutique hotel. Situated right across the street from the eye-popping Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, we were a short walk to most tourist sights (Casco Viejo, shopping, museums, pintxos, vino). Mostly we walked and used umbrellas a great deal, but we found the city buses and underground were easy to negotiate. Our room included an outstanding breakfast with an attentive and friendly staff. The charming decor augmented by works of the popular artist Mariscal added to the vacation atmosphere "aboard the cruise ship, Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao": a maritime theme is used throughout the various venues in this hotel's facilities....most enjoyable and fun.

Room Tip: If possible, request a room facing the Guggenheim for the view of the river and museum are spectacul...
