We rolled in to town and did not have hotel reservations. We stumbled upon the Best Western Conde Duque and were very happy that we did. The room price was affordable (less than 100 euro). The bed was very comfortable. The room had a modern classy decor. The staff was nice and helpful. Since we had a car, we needed parking (which is very difficult to find in Bilbao). The receptionist gave us directions to the hotel parking garage (a little more expensive than we wanted to pay) and also explained the various color codes for the curbs nearby. One color (blue I think) indicated that parking was free until 9am. We were hoping to find a spot with a blue curb line before we reached the parking garage. As we were pulling away, the receptionist ran after us to tell us that his favorite spot, just 10-meters from the entrance of the hotel, was vacant! We would have never noticed, and then likely driven to the garage and paid 16 euro. Needless to say, we were very happy to save the money - thanks to the hotel receptionist. Anyway - we enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. It was across the street from the bridge designed by Calatrava and a 7 minute walk to the Guggenheim.
