This hotel is a modern business hotel with a variey of facilities (bar, pool etc) that we did not use as we spent our time sightseeing. Rooms are comfortable is starting to show a little wear and tear. Bathroom was large, good hot water, separate toilet and good toiletry selection. Room had a much welcomed fridge with mini bar, decent TV but no English language channels and I was unable to alter the language on the dubbed programmes (as is sometimes possible). There is the odd configuration of two King Singles pushed togeher but made up separately that is so common in Spanish hotels (haven´t they heard of double beds?). Overall though, very comfortable for a few nights. Free wifi too. The hotel is quite close to the metro (perhaps 1 1/2 blocks) and is easy to use which is probably just as well as it´s a very, very long hill down to the old town (but we walked it a few times too).
Touring is always a hassle when it come to big cities if you want to stay relatively close to the sights and park somewhere that is close to your hotel but doesn´t cost the earth. Barcelo Avenida has it´s own carpark in front of the hotel which whilst open to the elements, is at least gated and also under surveillance from security cameras. It´s 14€ for 24hrs which is pricey (only 15€ undercover in Berlin) but we were happy not to give up our key so some attendant could take it for a Ferris Bueller spin or have to park four blocks away.
