This was the first time I'd used an apartment hotel in Europe. The one bed, one bath apartment was quite spacious, and while the kitchen was rather rudimentary, it was good enough for our purposes. I could heat water on a stovetop, there was a microwave and refrigerator, so I could do easy meals. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. We were in Oviedo exploring the surrounding Asturias, for 3 nights, and it was perfect for our needs. Very centrally located, adequate buffet breakfast in our negotiated price via Hotels.com, and parking was included. That was the only tricky part, as the drive down into the various floors is very steep and twisty, and the parking spots not the easiest for what I'm used to, but then, I haven't driven all that much in Europe. My Jetta diesel manual shift was great to drive, but this was still the only challenge. I drove over much of Spain and that is a real pleasure itself--great roads, highways, wonderful!
The hotel is a short walk from the old city center, and quite convenient to local shops. We had internet and could play our DVDs as well, and since we could come and go as we pleased, without having to worry about a maid, and with lots of room, what more would we want? The cleanliness was great, the hotel staff very pleasant and helpful, and while it is on the corner of a very busy street, the noise wasn't excessive for us. Since we were there in March, the lack of air conditioning wasn't a concern, but I can see how that might be other times of the year.
I agree with another reviewer: "The cost was less than what one might spend on a standard room. A pretty good bang for the buck. It was not posh, but clean, contemporary and well maintained."
