I stayed two nights in the this lovely hotel downtownn Gijon. We booked a suite and Enjoy the perfect stay. Consider the Hernan Cortes as a good choice for business or for a city traveller.

stayed for two nights . arrived lateish to be met by a grumpy old man who brusquely directed me to the nearby underground carpark which ended up costing about 40euros.
Up then to nice room which turned out to be too hot.View from room was a grey wall.Alot of noise from casino nextdoor.Room big enough.
Hotel is quite far from beach but central to park bars etc..Gijon is a lovely place with a nice mix of restos and bars and galleries.
The breakfast is very nice in the Spanish style and the lady who works there could teach the rest of the staff that a pleasant manner and a smile cost nothing and generally make life more agreeable.
You get a free drink at the casino next door...which is nice!!
All in all a nice enough hotel but next time in this lovely city i will stay nearer the beach in a more friendly place..

I stayed here for 2 nights during a business conference. The room in this hotel was large, quiet and clean. And the hotel is centrally located, very close to the train station and the tourist sites. The hotel has a bit old fashoned outlook. But this is very nice. The personal in the hotel were very friendly and helpful for everything.

We stayed in Gijon for two nights. Really liked this hotel, it has a 'old fashioned' quality (in a good way). Unlike many city hotels it didnt feed like a corporate institution. My initial impression of the room was that it was dark, but that was just because of the shutters. The room was large, bright and very clean with plenty of storage space. There was a separate sitting / tv area which proved useful. The bed was very big and comfortable. Bathroom good size. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was worth having the hotel breakfast, there were three options at different prices, it was really good and staff were very pleasant. Overall impression is of a very well run, comfortable hotel. Would recommend it highly.
