Very nice entrance with lots of modern art touches. Reception nice if a bit lacking in English (my problem not theirs). After a moderately long walk to elevators, I found my room. Room? More an apartment with entrance hall, living room, bedroom and bath. (This may have been an upgrade -- but the desk staff didn't mention it).
The hotel appears brand new. I stayed around the middle of October, 2010, and learned the hotel had opened just a few weeks before. I think I was the first guest in my room. A little sawdust and a couple of ill fitting switch covers hastened this conclusion.
But, what a room! A real living room with sectional sofa, desk and TV. Separate bedroom with another TV. Huge bath with separate toilet. Very nice and modern design.
Hotel restaurant/bar again was nicely decorated. Breakfast was decent but not unusual. Cocktail hour found the lounge filled, oddly, with much older patrons. Bar seating though comfortable was in a shadow from the restaurant and dark.
Location of the hotel is excellent. A short and interesting walk to the cathedral (and other sights) in one direction and an even closer walk to the main shopping avenue in the other.
I believe this hotel is under same ownership as the Palofax, so I suspect service issues will be remedied shortly.
Not sure if this review should be linked to the existing one as this hotel is new. Nonetheless, come to Zaragoza to stay at the Alfonso.
