“did the job”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We had three nights at this hotel during one of the coldest spells Zaragoza has ever had - even the public fountains and water features were frozen! The hotel was absolutely fine and any criticisms would be nit-picking. The air conditioning/central heating was a bit noisy, but very effective. The room was large , comfortable and clean. Slightly confusing bedside controls which I'm not sure always worked. Good bathroom - big and well lit, with the toilet area screened off. Decent toiletries, which were replaced every day, even if only used a little, and lots of extras (dental kit, comb etc). Lovely big soft towels! And a bath big enough to have a good long soak in after a cold day's yomping about.
We were on a cheap deal which included the minimal rather than the buffet breakfast, which was fine....freshly squeezed orange juice and the best hotel coffee I've ever had!
Staff were friendly and very helpful in organising taxis and restaurant reservations, as our Spanish is minimal. Although the area itself is not particularly interesting, it's within walking distance of the city centre, and we found a couple of good, friendly bars close to the hotel.
I'd like to revisit Zaragoza in warmer weather just to be able to stroll around and I'd certainly stay at this hotel again.

“Good... but a bit dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The lobby of Hotel Boston is grand with marble floor, stairs etc. The front desk only occupy a minor part of the space and an old telephone switchboard (antique) on display in one corner a few sofas to sit in and half stairs up the lobby bar. A few elevators up to rooms and I have never been standing waiting for an elevator. That is probably because it has never been fully occupied when I stayed there.

Door to room is thin and it is possible to hear people talk when passing but this has not disturbed me as hotel probably been close to empty. Bed is hard and it suits me good as I slept very well. Though, the controller for temp gives no response when turning and display shows room temp. I turned back and forth and thought it was no longer in use and was happy with the LCD showing 21C as I thought that was the setting. What I did was setting minimum temp and with the very thin blankets it got ice cold during first night. I found extra blanket second night and slept very well in the cold room. Beside bed you find a large panel where you can control all lamps, “Do not disturb sign” etc (same style as in many Japanese hotels). Room has a large LCD TV with a number of channels where I only found CNN in English but I did not search for more. There were a number of channels in Spanish and for a short time it was entertaining watching Jackie Chan speaking Spanish or the Chinese couple in a movie fighting with bamboo and speaking Spanish.

Bathroom was large but with a combined shower and tub. Overall the room was clean and well maintained.

Breakfast was good but extra positive was coffee machine and fresh orange juice.

Hotel Boston is good and in some areas very good but still you get the feeling it is a bit dated. The flimsy turn for temp, the thin doors, the motive of bedcovers, the panel for controlling lights… it all give the feeling of being a bit dated. Still I will return to Hotel Boston next time in Zaragoza.

I was in the hotel for two nights during business in Zaragoza.
The hotel is excellent. the people in the front desk are very kind and provide you useful help to find places to have dinner not far away from the hotl.
The room was large and very clean. The bathroom was clean and full of toiletry that was refill everyday.
WiFi is free and very fast.
The hotel is located very close to the historic area.

“Excellent Location, Very Quiet, Excellent Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We stayed for 5 nights while my spouse attended a meeting in the hotel. The sleeping room was reasonably large with a very nice bathroom, all fairly updated and well maintained. We did not eat at either of the two restaurants and if this place has a bar we never found it. The breakfast buffet is excellent. It was included in the rate negotiated for meeting attendees so we don't really know how much it would cost.

“Rubber underlays and dismissive staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

On arrival everything seemed fine. Rapid check-in and fairly acceptable room (really a 3.5 star to be honest) though it was exceedingly annoying that EVERY time you enter the room the TV turns on ( I would love to hear an explanation of why the hotel management has profiled me as belonging to that group of socially inept dim-wits that has zero capacity for thought and, thus, needs constant background narration).

Went out for an evening meal returning around 11ish.

The lift doors opened to flickering light....nervous laughter (from us)...”must be those energy saving lights”... in the room the TV came on, again (aghhh). Turned it off. Sat down. The lights flickered. The TV came on. Turned it off. The lights flickered. The TV came on. Turned it off. The lights flickered. The TV came on. Turned it off. Phoned reception – “we have an electrical fault, it will be fixed soon”. Went to bed (Yawn (long day of travel)). Thirty seconds later...lights on. TV ON! Got up. Lights off, TV off. One minute later... lights ON, TV ON! And repeat for the next ten minutes! AGHHHHHH.

Called reception. Demanded new room. Got it.

The scene – a new room. Big bed. Clean crisp sheets. Ahhhh at last!

Ten minutes later. Clammy. Hot not happy. Investigation.

The reason? Incontinence sheets! What kind of hotel thinks I am going to make such a mess of their bed that they need to put an underlay of rubber? Euch! Removed. Remade bed. Quite nights sleep.

The scene – two days later. “Hello, I need to speak to a colleague, please can you call their room?” “No, our computer is broken”. Ten minutes later. “Hi, I called earlier, are your computers working yet?” “No, hahaha” click, brrrr.

Summary. Potentially a good hotel but needs updating and some maintenance. Also, the staff need a bit of training.
