I've been in seville during 3 days (1-3 jan 2012). My first idea was the Hotel Mercaderes, but after 2 hours searching... we decided to change for another one, and the petit palace appears in front of me...
Basic, good location, my son loved the laptop and free internet...
Modern, basic and good price value.

I stayed here one night. It was exactly as it was presented in the reviews. Modern, small and functional. I loved having the Dell laptop and wifi in the room. Also took advantage of the discounted bus tour of Seville. I did not know Seville enough and took a taxi from the train station. Perhaps there is a cheaper way but since I was there for only a short period of time, I took the taxi. The hotel is walking distance from the main points - Cathedral, Alcazar.

Stayed here for 4 nights in early May. The hotel has a very modern feel to it with the previously mentioned free use laptops provided in each room (secured with a cable lock and they have Linux installed if you're a techie). The wifi is also free of charge if you have your own equipment - just ask for a code at Reception. They can also help out with basic connectivity problems.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a room-only basis so can't comment on the breakfast. One nice touch was the free bottle of chilled sherry in the room to advertise Jerez.

Downside: the rooms were tiny. We'd taken the decision not to upgrade to a suite as this was designed to be a budget trip. However having seen the size of 3 rooms it would have been better in hindsight to pay more for the additional space (we couldn't at the time as they were full). We struggled to find anywhere to put the suitcases and it wasn't even possible to option the door fully without catching the end of the bed. The bathroom was perfectly adequate and nicely decorated but again really tiny.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but be prepared for the cramped feeling. If like us you're out and about all day and only need a room to sleep, this should suit you. The location and price outweighed the size issue for us. The hotel also offers the use of free bicycles - just ask at reception. Nice touch.

We picked this place because of the wifi an free laptop on high speed that really helped our "not fully planned" trip.

The part that stunk about the wifi is all 3 people in our party had to reconnect with a long annoying username and password. It wouldn't remember the settings. This dropped use by 80%. would have been perfct but for that. And that matters to us since we are very connected.

Beds were hard like most places in Spain.

Has fridge too.

Awesome place to walk out the door and be in the thick of things.

Some late night noise from drunken people.
