I'll start with the positives: It's close to plenty of restaurant options, and to the cathedral. It's relatively cheap but I've stayed at nicer places for cheaper. We got our own bathroom which was well worth it.
Negatives:
We got there at 3 in the afternoon and the door was locked with no one around (it's down a little ally). We just stood there banging on the door for 15 minutes before someone came out of a different house and let us in, he was confused and spoke no english. I'm not sure how you run a hostal without knowing a single word of English but this guy thinks he can do it. The rooms are windowless...so beware, you'll always think its night time. The bathroom is kind of clean, the beds are pretty uncomfortable but that's what you get when you stay at any place in this price range.
When we were leaving to check out, this guy was no where to be found because they have no reception desk! I wandered up the private rooms and knocked on those doors and he finally came out, annoyed. Seriously, people have to check in and out of your place so make it easier. This was the most annoying thing and the reason I gave this place a 2, you never know where the owners are so you can't relay anything to them. FRUSTRATING.
