“Architecturally Beautiful Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Stunning hotel in terms of its architecture. We stayed in two separate room (one room at the beginning of our trip and another at the end of our holiday). Some rooms can be quite dark but are of a really great size and beautifully in a minimalistic way. Had toast with tomoatoes and black coffee for breakfast each morning and paid about €8 for the two of us. Their coffee was very good. The staff, while mainly good, failed to tell us about the plunge pool up on the roof terrace and also that there was a reading room with a compute with internet access. We discovered these by chance on our second visit.

“Stylish hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2009

I liked this hotel (the other reviewer is right about the small step trip hazard in the courtyard!). It has lovely interiors and is very quiet. The rooms are big - my friend's room was bigger - and the bathrooms are great with fab mixed rain/normal showers. My room, unfortunately only had a very thin window that looked onto the corridor so it was very dark. The service was good. We didn't have breakfast as we didn't see any laid out in the restaurant so went out instead as it was 16 Euros anyway. We did have a drink in the bar in the comfy sofas - very quiet! Location is okay - feels a bit out of the centre and there were a few dodgy people wandering about at night, but it felt safe enough if you had your wits about you. In general, good hotel with very clean, neat interiors. It has free wi-fi as well.

“good price, great location, very stylish”

We paid 139 euros a night for 3 nights on our honeymoon. We really enjoyed staying here. The hotel's set up is beautiful, very architectural conversion of a old mansion. (Mind you, the little step in the courtyard is something of a trip hazard.) I would not get a room on the front because there would be quite a bit of noise, but there was no issue on the courtyard facing room we had. The slate lined bathroom was very groovy. A short walk to some great sites in Seville. The breakfast buffet is not fab nor great value (but the coffee is lovely). If you have a car, there are 2 parkings quite close by that cost 17 or 18 euros a day.

“Dreadful-Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2008

This hotel might look very nice in the photos and the Guardian gave it a positive review - but avoid at all costs! The staff are surly and rude and the hotel is definitely cheap style over substance.

Despite an initial warm welcome from the hotel concierge the most service you get from the rest of the staff is a tut and a shrug of the shoulders.

The rooms are not comfortable and at all costs avoid rooms P15 & P16 on the first floor. They look out onto the main road (no soundproofing) and you can also hear the sound of the main entrance door and it constantly opens and closes sounding like you have skateboarders in your room. Additionally one of the people I travelled with said that their room smelled like a cat litter. Lovely.

Breakfast is a major feat. First of all there is hardly any room to sit, service is slow to non-existent and again the staff are rude.

There are plenty of better hotels in Seville.

“Style over substance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2008

I stayed in the hotel in early may with a group of friends. We arrived quite late on a Saturday evening and were greeted by the extremely friendly reception staff. Even in the rain, the beautifully lit open air courtyard looked stunning.

Shortly after arriving we ventured up to the first floor to find our room which was medium sized and tastefully decorated. We decided to overlook the fact that the room smelt of cat urine and assumed it was just a damp smell due to the rain, we hoped this would soon leave when we turned on the air conditioning.

After unpacking, we had a look round the bathroom which had a great shower and excellent water pressure. The bathroom walls had a small amount of damp but it was mostly under the sink and not really an issue. We were travelling with friends and decided to wait for them in the hotel bar. We had a look round the downstairs courtyard area and struggled to find a bar, we asked a member of staff in Spanish if a small seating area was in fact the bar. We received a curt garbled message. We sat down, at which point the same curt lady came over and told us it was closed, even though it was only about 10pm. We left the hotel and went for drinks elsewhere.

The following day we woke up and went down to breakfast. Before we could help ourselves, we had to ask for plates, some orange juice to be put in the machine, and a knife and fork. Every time we asked for something it was like we were disturbing the staff. There was no coffee available so again we had to ask for this. The food was average and I would not recommend it. Up until this point the staff hadn’t really been too rude, they just hadn’t smiled or been in any way helpful or welcoming. I went to get some croissants to go with our coffee and the woman looked at me like she was lost for words, she showed me that the breakfast would cost 16 Euros each. The price was not a surprise, but I would have expected better service when being charged. The lady then said that I should collect anything I wanted as she was clearing breakfast away. We decided collectively as a group not to eat breakfast in the hotel again.

The room in which we stayed was quite quiet, although the hairdryer from next door’s bathroom was quite loud.

Two days later when we checked out, the smell still lingered in our room. The hotel in itself was quite nice. Unfortunately a few members of staff didn’t really make us feel at all welcome.
