“Casa Romana noisy rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed in Seville at he Casa Romana boutique hotel for 4 nights on the 2nd February. The hotel is near the Corte Ingles and main shopping area but also within 10 minutes walk to the cathedral . It is not really in the old part but it is easy to get around on foot and it is near the taxi rank. The hotel is discreetly decorated and feels lovely. We were shown to a room at he back of the hotel which we loved but did not have heating which we needed during an unusually cold spell . The rooms at the back are around a lovely open court yard with a fountain with open air centre and also with open air stairs to the roof bar . The rooms at the front though more expensively decorated overlook the busy main road and a bar. We found the room to be very noisy at night and the bar crowd was noisy. We did not sleep for 4 nights. The walls are also thin between the rooms so you can hear your neighbours. The breakfast is substantial. The staff are very helpful and went out of their way to help. I would recommend this hotel but stay at the back.

Room Tip: Stay away from the front of the hotel overlooking the road.

“Very quiet and convenient location in Sevilla”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Despite a bad start as I had booked a standard room for 2 pax and its size was of claustrophobic proportions , I was then upgraded to a Superior room ( no extra charge ) which was perfect in all respects , particularly the bathroom facilities. Internet wifi in the rooms is free and worked perfectly ,getting connected in no time .
The hotel is very close to Alameda de Hércules and five minutes walking distance from Calle Sierpes and the historical centre of town .
For the same "value for money" , I would repet staying in Casa Romana.

Room Tip: Do NOT ever go for a standard room as they are much too small !!!

“Overnight”

My wife & I stayed for one night in July just to see the city. The staff were young, very friendly & helpful. The hotel is very central and we walked everywhere. They tried hard with breakfast but we didn't go for the rooftop restaurant, it appeared to open quite late and the menu appeared to be mainly tapas, like most of the restaurants in Seville as we later found out. The bedroom and ensuite were quite spacious and thankfully very cool for July! The city is fabulous and easy to walk around, the shops are very olde world with very helpful staff. Would stay again.

“The place to stay in Seville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Casa Romano is a small hotel but really beautiful. The reception staff are extemely pleasent and helpful and gave all the infromation we needed to enjoy our short break in Seville. We had an internal room which looked out into the inner courtyard. There are other rooms that look out on to the main street outside the hotel but I would have thought that these would be very noisy. The rooms are very nice and comfortable although wi-fi has to be paid for, which is a negative. There is a lovely roof terrace with a small pool and in the evening it is a great place to have a glass of wine or something to eat. Breakfat at €17 per person is not worth the money. There are local cafes 2 minutes from the hotel in Duque de la Victoria Square which are not only excellent but give great value for money.
The hotel is 10-15 minutes away from the main tourist attractions and close to the main shopping area. If you want to eat well stay away from the area around the cathedral in the evenings as the food quality is poor and the prices extremely high. Try the area around the hotel and Bodega dos de Mayo, a tapas bar, has the best tapas I've ever tasted. It is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Get there early when it opens at 2000hrs as it is a local institution and generally packed to the rafters.

Room Tip: Pick a room looking into the inner courtyard, they are cool and quiet

“One to avoid...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Despite having booked a superior room some weeks ago, after checking in, we were then told that the rooms were not available. They tried to fob us off with a small, smelly room with no view and no refund. Several other guests were also getting the same treatment. Some hours later, I am still not sure we got the full truth but the hotel manager, after much discussion eventually transferred us to another hotel where we went onto enjoy our short trip to Seville...i'd like to say that we would go back, but for us, this is one to avoid...
