“ASQUEROSO”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

STAY AWAY from this hotel. Air conditioning does not work, rooms are old and tacky, expect humidity and musty rooms. We decided to cancel the booking as soon as we saw the room (sleeping with a broken air conditioning and with 40 degrees celsius at night was not an option) and the management charged us the whole price of the room. The worst service we have ever had. AVOID this hotel and head of for HOTEL SAN GIL in La Alameda neighbourhood, a nice 20 min walk €5 taxi ride from the Cathedral. For €60 a night we found a spotless modern room and a lovely 4 star hotel in a traditional building with a great patio, rooftop views of the city and even a swimming pool!

“Perfect location, cheap, but no frills and not terribly comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

We stayed for three days while running around Andalucia. While we loved Sevilla and the location of the hotel was amazing, it was not a great experience. The room was very cold as the weather was dreadful and there was no heating system, and we were on the main floor right as all the travelers walked in, so there was noise at all points of the day and night. The staff were not friendly, and although we both speak Spanish very well, they treated us terribly, did not help with any suggestions for bars or restaurants when requested, and basically acted like they didn't want to be there at all. I would recommend this only to backpackers or anything on a strict budget, as the location is worth it, but not for anyone who doesn't want a hassle or is looking to relax.

“Better than we had hoped for a basic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2009

For what we paid, this was excellent value. Booked through Holiday Nights and only cost £86 for two nights for the room. We were given Room 40, right at the top of the building and it was clean and comfortable, with plenty of hot water. Bit noisy at times because the sound from reception carried up the stairwell. From the small window we had a view over the rooftops. Cafe Rayuela, for breakfast, is excellent. Cheerful, noisy, so busy at 10 am one morning we went somewhere else, but must be the best value in Seville. To find it you go left out of the hotel, right round the little square and turn left, there's an arch at the bottom and it's there.

“Excellent location, cheap, basic, clean, noisy!”

We booked cheap flights to Seville for a 4 day city break and were then shocked at the hotel prices. We only really wanted somewhere central and clean to sleep at night and the Zurbaran provided this. The location is brilliant, 2 or 3 minutes stroll to the Alcazar and Cathedral. The plaza these are situated on is amazing and I can't imagine tiring of rounding the corner to this view, particularly early or late when there are few people around! The Zurbaran provided a clean twin bedded room with ensuite bathroom with a decent shower and plenty of hot water. We, like other reviewers, were given the room by the front door. This meant that noisy guests returning to the hotel sounded like they were in your room! This did not bother us too much as we are both pretty heavy sleepers and a few beers / sherries helped! If like us you want a cheaper central option but do not want dorms or shared bathrooms I would recommend the Zurburan. It served us well. Think twice if you are easily woken! Seville is fantastic so you should not want to spend long in any hotel!!

“Great location, friendly staff, basic facilities”

The hotel staff were particularly welcoming and we felt immediately at home. The location is excellent, literally backing on to the Alcazar and minutes away from the Cathedral and great tapas bars.

Our room was at ground floor level right by the front door and so we did hear the comings and goings of the other guests. I am sure that the other rooms would be quieter. That said, the location in a quiet side street meant that there was very little noise from outside and so overall I would recommend this hotel.
