“Be careful when booking!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

There was some mix-up with my booking so instead of my original hotel I was sent to Hotel Casona de San Andres - and that was my loss!
I was told it was better hotel but I got a room where the only window opened up to an indoor corridor so everyone passing by could hear and see everything. The aircondition did not work so the temperature in the room reached 28 degrees C. A ventilator could not be found. But even worse than the claustrophobic heat was a large group of German guests. Apparently they had a very nice time - but they also made sure that noone else got more than 2 to 3 hours of sleep before they started again at 6.30 am. And no, they were not teenagers! I just had to get out - and yes, I paid.
The receptionist was so sorry and when I returned to my originally booked hotel they had made sure that I got a very nice room but still it does not make up for that horrible night.

“Great value, nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2008

I stayed at Hotel Casona de San Andres for four nights in March 2008, as a solo vacationing traveler. The hotel is on a little skinny road that cars cannot drive on right next to a cute little plaza (square) and across the street from a church. It is located a few blocks from the El Corte Ingles. The taxi cab had a hard time finding it, and there is no signage directing you to it, either. If you come by rental car, you will be challenged to find legal parking for your car. Still, the hotel is very nice and modern inside. I had a room with a private balcony, which I just loved (not all rooms have balconies)! I sat out there every evening to eat my dinner and read until dark. The hotel has an elevator. The plaza is lively but not noisy; I was not disturbed by any noise during my stay, and I am a light sleeper. The hotel offers wi-fi in some rooms, but not all rooms (there is an internet cafe just a block away). The hotel has a limited breakfast, which I never had, so I cannot rate it. They also offer lunch, but no dinner. My room was very clean, modern, had a great bathroom. Staff speak some English. The TV in the room is small, but offers the Fox International News channel in English. Every night, the church bells would ring at 7:30PM, 7:45PM, 8PM, 8:15PM and 8:30PM (I don't know why it had this schedule, but I enjoyed the bells). I did not find the neighborhood seedy or dangerous immediately around the hotel, but different people have different opinions about what is scary to them; I am a single female traveler and I did not feel threatened. I really liked this hotel, and felt it was a great value.

  • Liked — Great value, modern, clean
  • Disliked — If you have a car, you would be challenged to find the hotel and to park after finding it

“Ambivalent about this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2006

This hotel is in the historic center of Seville, but not in a particularly attractive area. We had ambivalent feelings about it because we had spent two previous nights at a much nicer small hotel, but couldn't book a third night, so had to move. The Casona just has a slightly "bordering on seedy" air to it, sort of dispirited, instead of lively and bright. However, it was clean. The hotel did not offer breakfast, but gave us vouchers to walk around the corner to a nearby cafe, where we got a toasted roll and cup of coffee. The Casona was certainly reasonably priced, but I would spend a little more to upgrade if we were to return to Sevilla.

  • Liked — nothing in particular
  • Disliked — The lobby was dark and dreary.

“Loved it!”

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Casona de San Andres. It has a great location that is within walking distance to everything you want to see and because it is on a square, the hotel is quiet! The hotels and the rooms are charming with beautiful Spanish/Moorish decor. We didn't want to stay in a sterile hotel but rather something a little more authentically Spanish and this fit the bill perfectly. It was also a great rate of 65 Euros.

The only downside is driving in Seville to find the hotel! It is a maze of really narrow one way streets, pedestrians everywhere and seemingly no traffic rules. If you are coming by car, get a good map before you go, map out your route and head to the Corte Ingles car park (costs 15 Euros for 24hrs through the hotel).

Have breakfast with the locals in the little restaurant across the square. It is lively and the food was pretty good!

All in all, we would definitely stay here again. Seville is a great city and we enjoyed wandering around and enjoying the atmosphere!

“A treasure in magical Seville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2006

The Casona de San Andres is a treasure indeed! My family of 4 stayed for 8 days here and loved the entire experience. ( two family members in each room)The hotel is super clean, very convenient to all parts of Seville, friendly staff, great amenities such as color t.v., safe for valuables and air conditioning, super functional, practical/clean bathrooms in your room , wonderful "Moorish" decor, rooms with just enough space for 2 people ( european standards), the modest extra "breakfast" included across the quaint plaza a great way to start your daily adventures..... I could go on about the positives but instead will mention just one negative: the hotel is located in a small plaza and taxi access is a bit tricky. The price is very fair. I highly recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — how totally unique and charming the hotel was
  • Disliked — somewhat smallish rooms but very manageable
  • Tips/Secrets — try it!
