Centrally located, this hotel provides a comfortable base from which to explore this small, exceptionally beautiful city. The welcome was pleasant and my emailed request for a room on a lower floor had been accommodated. Our room was fairly spacious but pretty corporate and characterless: it also felt a bit shut in - only a very small, narrow window in the corner of the room overlooking an internal courtyard: pretty enough if you leaned out and peered down, but the view out was just of the opposite wall. Nice bathroom, good toiletries and comfortable bed . Mercifully we didnt want to use the 'media centre' which came at a fairly hefty cost per day. No price list was apparent for the minibar so we steered clear! Very noisy during the day - every move of the cleaning trolley echoed along the marble coridors - but at nght it was quiet and we slept well. The buffet breakfast, served in a very beautiful 'high andaluz' dining room, complete with tiles, high wooden ceiling etc - was outstandingly good - lovely local hams, cheeses, membrillo and all the usual breakfast stuff; but the chilly, sullen faces of the staff made us wonder nervously what unmentionable crime we had committed, and did not tempt us to sample other meals. The hotel is clearly favoured by visiting business people which is not always conducive to a relaxing holiday break: listening to the group of e
English middle managers on the next table slagging off their absent colleague was not really what I wanted to hear at breakfast! Wonderful bars and eateries nearby though, so didnt matter that much. We booked well in advance via discount website and got a very good reduction indeed: if you seek out such a deal this hotel is good value - less so if you pay the full tariff price. Next time (for we loved Sevilla) I think we will try somewhere with a little more character.
