“Fantastic location, but don't go there for a nice hotel experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2009

We wanted an affordable place near to the Feria. As my relatives live in Seville, I've never stayed in a hotel in Seville before, so I can't compare it to other hotels in Seville. This time we went with friends, which is why we opted for a hotel.

Resitur is in a great location for the Feria de Abril - one of the closest hotels for that, but also close to the river and lots of bars and a stone's throw from the Torre del Oro and maybe 10 mins walk from the cathedral. It was stupidly expensive for what it offered (I think we paid about €120 or something for the night) - but then everything is stupidly expensive during the Feria week. All we wanted was somewhere to sleep and not too far to walk, and it offered just that.

It also offered a couple cockroaches in our room (we only saw them a couple of times, it wasn't overrun with them, and our friends had none in their room) and virtually nothing usable in the kitchenette - don't expect to use the kitchenette to cook proper food, as there are virtually no utensils to use, some very old pans, and not even a bin. I don't know if the cooker worked, but the fridge was useful for drinks and for yogurts for breakfast.

We were in room 424, which is on the 4th floor and overlooking the back (not Calle Salado). The beds were ok, a bit bouncy, but I slept fine. It is true that it is noisy though, as the doors to the hallway are very thin, you can hear people walking and talking all day and night, and if the people above you wear high heels, you'll hear them too. Having said that, it's no different to staying at my auntie's flat nearby. We both took earplugs and slept fine. There wasn't much noise from the street on the side where we were, and the blinds and curtains were fantastic.

The whole room and bathroom looked very tired (the attached pictures don't really show just how tired the place looked). The place needs a total rehaul. But if all you want is somewhere to lay your head, you don't mind using earplugs if necessary, and you want a great location (I love Triana and Los Remedios, but then maybe I'm a bit biased as that's where my relatives have always lived), and (and this is important!) you can get a really good price on it, then this is a good choice.

If, on the other hand, having a nice hotel experience is also important, don't go here...

“Reasonable Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2007

Seville is quite an expensive city for accommodation, so if you are travelling on a budget don't let some of the negative reviews put you off.

The hotel is 15/20 min walk from either of the two coach stations (the railway station is out of town and you'll need to catch a bus / taxi). Likewise the historical centre (Cathedral / Alcazar) is again 15/20 mins walk. There are restaurants close by (less than 5 mins walk) overlooking the river and city skyline. And a reasonably well stocked supermarket with in store bakery opposite the hotel open 9am - 9pm Monday to Saturday for breakfast & picnic lunch ingredients.

I was on the first floor, and yes, as mentioned in an earlier review there were bars on the windows, but overlooking a flat roof security has to come before ascetics. It IS budget accommodation, so if you don't expect much more than a bed and bathroom you won't be disappointed. Rooms can vary, and I can only describe room 137, which was spotlessly clean. The main drawback was the beds which were only 6ft long (not the standard 6ft 6) but they could be dragged from the wall to create a bit more length.

It had a microwave but the power lead was too short to reach the socket, there was crockery but no cutlery, there was a electric stove but the only cooking utensil was a frying pan, there was a fridge but no kettle. All minor irritants. The room had air conditioning which worked well, and a small tv but no English language channels.

“Average, maybe look elsewhere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2007

My girlfriend and I stayed in an apartment here for 3 nights in April (during Semana Santa) 2007.
The hotel is almost an hour walk from the train station, or a 20 min bus, or 8 euro taxi ride. It is about a 15 min walk to city center. The staff is not all that friendly, and the room was a little ugly. It was pretty clean though, and the bathroom was nice. They have cooking utencils, pots and pans, small fridge, stove, and microwave. It has no internet, no maps, an overpriced restaraunt, and a guest elevator. It isn't all that bad, but If I ever was to go back to Sevilla, I would try to find a different hotel.

  • Liked — The size, and the kitchen.
  • Disliked — The staff.

“Noisy, Noisy, Noisy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2007

If you want to stay in Seville, it will probably be quite noisy, but if you want the noisiest place in Seville, stay here, the first floor has bars on the windows and is quite dark, we were moved to the 7th floor, staff very helpful, but the noise was 24 hour recurring, bins were emptied in the middle of the night, doors slamming, window shutters the noisiest I have ever heard, nightclubs opposite, people shouting all night long.

Parking, not in a million years, no parking at the hotel, no parking in the street, unless you want to stand outside for ten hours waiting for a parking place.

As for the 'Kitchenette', six plates, 1 cup and saucer, 1 Gigantic saucepan, no kettle, no frying pan, doors falling off the cupboard, noisy fridge.

As I said at the beginning, maybe everywhere would be noisy but WE will never be going back to this Hotel ever.
